What are the exact steps to take to get this league set up in OOTP 9? As usual my first attempt was not a success.

Also, make sure you're all running on version 9.16. If not, re-download the setup file from here: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/cms/...page=downloads

Originally posted by Andrew View PostYes, international scouting. The game creates hidden players that your scouts can find. This feature has been in since 2006 but you couldn't enable it unless you had done so at league creation, until now.
When I first got the game, OOTP 2006 I think, I set up a solo league and used the hidden player feature. It was silly the way it worked. By sending most of your scouts on international scouting you'd find a good and sometimes great prospect every month or two. Within a few seasons, even one's AAA team was full of MLB ready talent.
Maybe they have improved on this aspect of the game since then but in the beginning it was way way too easy to add good and even great prosepcts.
It seems to me that this change has the potential to drastically reduce the skill level involved in operating a team. In the current system good drafting, smart trades and intelligent financial management are all crucial for success. The new system may turn it into more of a crap shoot with the rewards going to which team gets lucky in finding the best hidden players.

Well, I'm certainly not putting any stock into anything yet... but with Magness off of the Top Players list and completely out of my BA system.... it's either flawed scouting.... or I officially take over the all-time greatest conversion crash title. The Great One!
To many rings to count...

Eh. Top player list doesn't mean much. Romano Gonzalez is still on there.
And him being off the prospect list, probably because he is no longer considered a "prospect" after a full year in the bigs.Wilmington Wildcats- 2057-

The problems you mentioned were the exact reasons we didn't enable it when we started. The chances of finding a good player have been drastically reduced.

Also keep in mind that our scouts are basically starting fresh, I think. They might have some screwy ratings when it comes to prospects.

I assume by 9.16 you mean 9.1.6, which I now have. I followed all of the instructions in the earlier link but when I try to open brewers in OOTP 9 I get the message - "could not load world file" then when I click Ok on that one I get a new message "the loading of the database failed. It is either corrupt or a save game file from an old version".
Any thoughts on how to fix this?

EDIT: Alright, I got it. I had to download the whole OOTP9 file and overwrite my existing file for it to work. Try that Riverman.Last edited by Ryan; 09-13-2008, 11:29 PM.

I'm confused on money already (although I do like the new front office screen). I tried offering an extension to one of my guys (to see what it would say I have for extensions). It said I don't have anything. However, under the 'available funds' tab it says "$ for free agents" and has $16 million and then has $0 for extensions.
Any idea why it separates my money like that? Why can't I spent it how I want?
Also, any idea where they came up with $16 million for FAs? I see $91 mil as current budget, $84 mil as current payroll...so how do I have $16 mil for FAs? I'm definitely not complaining just trying to figure it out.Dallas Snappers
