  • Team leaderboard question...

I know we've been having problems with the team's registry and past season stats disappearing, but I was wondering would that also affect a team's all-time leaderboard numbers?

I like looking at how bad California has been in the past, but it seems yearly, more and more guys disappear from the past reports. I guess I'm ok with that, as long as their stats aren't disappearing from the leaderboard as well.

Anyone have any idea if the stats are sticking, but the players are being erased, or is the issue a full whipe of the player and his stats completely?

Also, Andrew I know you said Markus was going to take a look at it... but I'm guessing he's still too busy to take a peak under the hood right now?

Reyes Cadena still appears on my leader board even though he last appeared in 1982. I guess he is retired since I don't see him as a FA either.

Not sure about major league, but the minor leaguers are flaming out.

I do worry that we may slowly lose a lot of our past history, which is SO un-baseball.

Yeah, I've been bugging Markus about this but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll be extremely pissed off if we lose our first 5 years or so of history. I'd really like to get this fixed before we convert to v9.

Sounds like a task you can assign to the co-commisioner - keep all records we are in danger of losing by hand.

Should be make our own historical database?

Yes, and that is an option. I have a backup of every sim since we converted to OOTP 2007. I could always restore from backup and export the stats. The problem is building a DB that provides as much info as the OOTP reports.

I have a feeling this is a pretty simple fix. The data was lost this past off-season at whatever point the game moves newly retired players into the retired.dat file. Since I have all the old retired.dat files Markus theoretically should be able to merge the two and we'd have our history back. If I had a tool that could read the .dat files I could probably do it myself.

                Phew. THat's the biggie.

I agree if you have the data, then we're golden. If we have to make our own database, it shouldn't be too bad.

I always had the idea of something like baseball-reference.com, just for BLB instead of real life baseball.
