Good to see everyone's taking BP today. It's been too quiet around here recently.

        • What about Don Stevens in the DL Last Call discussion?

Not sure he is deserving of winning...but the former #1 overall pick has taken this move to the pen and ran with it. He is 14-1, two saves, 100 IP, 2.45 ERA and 1.10 WHIP. Pretty impressive stuff. Played in more than half of the Slammers games.

When their team is being ravaged by injury... who will put them on their back and say "follow me".

When their team is in their first ever pennant race... who says "follow me".

Sometimes the whole story isn't written in the boxscore. Make sure you're following the right one.

              Thank you.

Paid for by the Committee to Elect Mel Woodbury - 1988 IL Stout Slugger

                  • For IL Last Call:

                    CL Ken Bayer - Batavia

                    Won 1987 Last Call with 35 saves, 1.04 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 78 k's.

                    Currently this year :

                    36 saves, 0.85 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 96 k's.

He'd have a whole lot more saves if we'd have a whole lot more wins.

Yeah, you'll definitely want to spiff him a couple of more times before voting. He's going to be hurt by the fact that he doesn't show up on the rookie stat leaderboard due to his lack of PAs/ABs. I've been keeping tabs on him because you stole him from me in the rule 5 draft

That was a bit tongue in cheek. I'm still not sure how he made it all the way to Virginia . . . or how he was left unprotected.

                              • I think my own rule V, Hector Cabrera, has put up comparable numbers to Phillips. He's obviously not a contender for an award, but I've been very happy with him nonetheless as a rule V:
