I have some guys coming off the books (McGee, McNeilage, Lewis, Drewery, MacKnight), but the only one I'm going to absolutely try to re-sign is Lewis. If McNeilage keeps pitching like shit, he's gone, Drewery's about done, McGee is getting older and I have Clapp to catch with Rosales in the minors, and MacKnight wants 11 million per, so screw that.
The only two free-agents, in my ENTIRE organization, are LF Steve Bing and 3B Florentino Corulla.
Bing wants a 7-year, $60 million contact. For awhile, I considered re-signing him to a 1 or 2 year deal, but I am going to let him walk because of the young guys I have waiting. In Free-Agency, he will be a 30-year-old, with good ratings, great speed, and a good defender. Someone will pay him.
Corulla wants to test FA, and thats fine with me. I signed him July and he has played well. He is an average defender, with a really inconsistent bat. He will be 33 in May. I'm sure his asking price will be way too high, and he will sign late.

The only FAs I have are SP Dan Haughey and OF Kevin Stolzfus.
Haughey will be 39 soon and looks like he saved the best for last in his career. He was 38-69 with a career ERA of around 4.25 when I added him for the stretch drive last season. Since then he has gone 14-6 with and ERA of under 3.40 for me. I have no money to resign him but I imagine someone will give him a shot next season.
I signed Stolzfus as a FA last season to a one year deal to serve as my fourth/fifth outfielder. He completely bombed in that role so I doubt that anyone will give him another BLB contract.
No way... they're already way over budget as is...
I don't see anyway they can resign both.
Maybe one, but not both.
They are only on the books for $49.0 in salaries next season and two of them, totaling $9.0 are teams options, so they may only have $40.0 in contracts before resigning Grandon and "Guard-o" - Budget of $69.0 this season which will go up next season by at least a couple million... that leaves roughly 30-32 million to resign players. Remember, by rule, he doesn't have to finish in the black this season. If he ends in the red this year, which he will barring a long playoff run or a last minute trade, he just has to get it back by the end of next season.
Bottomline, I don't see these two going anywhere. I think he can get both of them and Vance Miller back if he wants them.

So why do you think those two together will be asking for less than that? From the experience I have had with players in that class they'd want closer to $40 million than 30.
Also, the $49 mil doesn't include arbitration awards, which according to Markus are factored into the money available to resign guys.
Draft and Trade... this league has never been driven by powerhouse FA moves.
I think Clay is pulling your leg here, hoping to reduce the competition in the FA market this winter. The only team nearer than 5 games of a playoff spot in the IL that does not include key free agents is Windy City.
Baltimore
Graham Tandy - .275, 20 HRs, 74 RBIs
Nick Latham - .302, 23 HRs, 71 RBIs
Philly, 40% of their rotation
Jack Watson 11-6, 3.19
Doroteo Coto 9-7, 2.63
not to mention
Desi Rochs who is having an off year at .251, 11HRs, 49 RBIs but that is pretty decent for a middle infielder.
And where would Washington be without
Jerry Fortin .293, 21 HRs, 55 RBIs
For the low budget teams shopping in the bargain basement there is Davenport
Quinto Rivena 10-1, 1.49
Joe Hernandez .296/.364/.453
These two guys have absolutely saved my season with Rivena making up for what has otherwise been an off year in the bullpen and Hernandez stepping up after the season ending injury to center fielder Frank Paradis.
