Robby Shannon
Traded for Shannon and Lucio Mendez in the Mac Avery deal. Shannon really has nothing left to prove in AAA after posting a .324/.386/.848, 9/87, VORP of 37.8. He's a top 30 prospect, and a guy I'm hoping will fill my hole at 1B for years and years to come.
What I'm really expecting is for him to flame out quickly and for him to become an average to below average back up in the BLB. Hope I'm wrong, but I've never had luck with a prospect yet... so why should that change now?
I've placed him in the three hole for all six games this week. I'm planning on leaving him their for the rest of the season. Better to see what the kid has now, when we've still got two sims left in August. Unfortunately it also starts his salary clock... but since I'm expecting him to flop, I guess I really don't need to worry about paying him tons of money.
Hopefully I haven't "Pongo'd" another prospect... but we'll see.
Had Avery not gotten hurt, we'd be able to see how all of the prospects from this deal do the the last month, but that'll have to wait until next year.
My top pitching scout came back with good review on Avery post injury, so hopefully no talent hits in the future.

He was also batting cleanup that year, when the Auburn Venom won the Double-A Title. He finished that year with 21 doubles, 12 HRs, and 80 RBIs (in 111 games). At the start of 1984, he was in Double-A still, tearing the cover off the ball for the first month, and was then moved to Triple-A. In 58 games, he has hit .281, with 12 doubles, 14 HRs, and 44 RBI. He is currently listed as the #8 prospect on my org top 10. At 25-years-old, it looks like he is ready for the show.
Also interesting to add that Paulet is from Spanish Town, Jamaica. That makes him the ONLY Jamaican player in the entire BLB.
