Baseball America's #42 Rated Prospect - Joshua Poling - will make his BLB Debut on 8/2/84 at Batavia. Poling, who was acquired along with Dale O'Hegarty in Spring Training 1983 from Los Lunas for Joe Sargentini and a wheelbarrow of cash, will join the Colonials as the new everyday 3B with the departure of veteran Jorge Taracena.

Joshua will wear the #5 in honor of his hero Brooks Robinson.

BA #8 prospect OF Justin Chewning will make his debut this sim. We were going to wait until September, but his OPS has dropped about 100 points in the last 3 or 4 sims after his expectations changed to "playing in majors." Very nervous about this one. He'll get a lot of time in the field moving Roger Morgan to DH.

We're bringing Gonzalez up for this next sim. It's his time, though I'm sure he'll have his rough patches.



'Grumpy' will be our first home-grown player ever promoted to the BLB, so this is a pretty big deal here around Indy.

"Grumpy" was my prediction for the #1 spot in that draft. I was shocked when Mississippi went a different direction.

Stevens has certainly turned out to be a quality player in his own right...

Hell, Stevens, Gonzalez and Graham the top three picks in the 82 draft all seem to have been successful so far.

Yup, all three are guys I follow pretty religiously. My farm is piss-poor at developing talent so the fact that he survived to reach BLB is a miracle in its own right. Hopefully, he keeps developing and doesn't get owned by the switch to OOTP 9 :)

From what I've seen in OOTP 9... unless a guy gets hurt, or gets old... the players actually seem to develop....

Fingers crossed of course, but how amazing would it be to actually have positive news out of the farm system rather than all negative reports?

Robby Shannon


Traded for Shannon and Lucio Mendez in the Mac Avery deal. Shannon really has nothing left to prove in AAA after posting a .324/.386/.848, 9/87, VORP of 37.8. He's a top 30 prospect, and a guy I'm hoping will fill my hole at 1B for years and years to come.

What I'm really expecting is for him to flame out quickly and for him to become an average to below average back up in the BLB. Hope I'm wrong, but I've never had luck with a prospect yet... so why should that change now?

I've placed him in the three hole for all six games this week. I'm planning on leaving him their for the rest of the season. Better to see what the kid has now, when we've still got two sims left in August. Unfortunately it also starts his salary clock... but since I'm expecting him to flop, I guess I really don't need to worry about paying him tons of money.

Hopefully I haven't "Pongo'd" another prospect... but we'll see.

That's weird that he was like 70 points worse straight across the board in AAA when he moved from Indy's system to Cali's. I wonder if it's the park... the AAA coaches... Linty is jinxed. That's a pretty sizable difference without an injury or anything else other than a trade.

Good luck with him! That dude has been passed around a long for a Top 100 prospect.

Only thing I can think of... is the league switch to the IL.

Otherwise, I've most likely got a bust on my hands.

He does have a massive amount of RBI's though since joining Bakersfield. But I suppose that's due to guys getting on base in front of him... and not how he's playing.

Lucio Mendez has actually been the star of the deal so far. Hitting .300+ with 20 some RBI's from the 8 spot in the California line-up. Only 24 years old as well... might have found a SS
