  • Nakazo Sasaki

I just noticed that the first pick in the recent draft threw 164 pitches giving up 26 hits and 17 runs in a complete game loss to my Athens affiliate on July 1. It has been suggested that the game tracks this kind of abuse and pitchers that are treated that way burn out early in their careers.

I strongly suggest that everyone sign enough relievers to fill out your minor league staffs and put a pitch count at least on top prospects like Sasaki. I don't think it is as hard as it was to find guys to sign minor league deals as it was a few sims ago.

I have all of my SP's drafted in the 1st - 5th rounds on 99 pitch counts. Hell, I have The Skull on 99 still. If I'm going to kill a career... I'm doing it strictly by virtue of the fact that they are wearing the Virginia uni!!!

I limited his pitch count and moved him back to Single A before the last sim. I tried him in AA and it didn't work so well.

        Last game...7.1 innings pitched, 105 pitches, 1 ER, 5 k's.

I set all my young pitchers to 100 pitch counts as well. The game seems to keep them in as long as they have a no-hitter going, so Kirkpatrick has had a couple games where he's gone over his limit. I guess that's fine.

a.) I know nothing about prospects, I freely admit that.
b.) There's a difference in being ready and getting your head stomped in on a weekly basis.
                      c.) 4-2. Soon to be 6-3 or 7-2.

                        (A) Well, we agree on that... so we'll call that one closed
                        (B) 2-6 -- 5.02 ERA -- 1.56 WHIP -- Joe Aurillo's numbers in his rookie season. Experience is experience. This is where he should be.
                        (C) 6-3 maybe... no way 7-2. I'd be willing to wager draft picks that you won't beat Oyos... even in your park.

B.) Joe Aurillo spent two full years in the minors. 350 IP in the minors.

"Skullfucked" spent half a season. Not even 100 IP in the minors.

Aurillo was a teenager and still pinging 3's when he was drafted. "The Skull" was 22 and hitting 4's an 5's.

Hitting 4's and 5's when he was drafted? So he hasn't developed much then...
