Dani Alvarez is a monster. Rookie of the Month for April, May, and June. IL Batter of the Month for June.

2-4 sim after getting paid back by Carolina after sweeping them earlier in the year. Still ended June with a 14-12 record. Compared to the rest of the Stout, it was a good month. Not that I expect to compete this season, but I take small victories.

Danny Nelson and Wilton Harcourt continue to crush the ball. Harcourt takes over the BLB lead in HRs with 21, while Nelson picks up another 3 this sim to bring his total to 17.

Delmar Oyos has another brilliant outing scattering 7 hits in 8.0 innings against the big bats in Baltimore. He walked 1, K'd 4 and allowed 1 earned in his 5th win of the season. The win moves him to 5-0 and drops his ERA to 2.31 and his WHIP to 1.18.

        ON THE FLIP SIDE...

Holy crap was my minor league system absolutely DECIMATED with injuries!!! Most of my top prospects in the minors are now out for weeks (Poling, Tracy, Maeda)... I'll struggle to pull together a complete pitching staff at some levels. Holy crap! I got killed by the injury bug!

        ***

Interesting note... Pepe Gonzalez... my out of nowhere 15th round guy who racked up multiple A ball awards this year got the bump to AA and won the player of the week his very first week. The Cinderella story continues.

4-2 sim, took both series this sim with 2-1 series victories against Pittsburgh and Syracuse. Sammy Homer is out for 8 weeks with a sprained back, which is too bad.

It's early still but looking like it should be a fun wildcard race in the IL.

2-4 sim. I'm more worried about the positives I can take out of it. I'm glad to see we're only 2 games out. That's much better than I expected at this point, for such a young club, and we're starting to think we have a chance. Makungu made his debut this week and picked up a win. Tsu was struggling with his command early on, but has looked good his past 4 starts. Alvarez and Romo continue to hit. Campoveroe continues to be our leader, quietly putting together another nice season. Delarruz is locked up for 3 more years at a reasonable price. Our 2nd first round pick, 3B Hector Lopez, jumped into the Top 100 Prospects at number 58, and is playing at AA. Jumh Numergini struck out 10 in 8 innings of work in his A-ball debut. Yeah, we went 2-4, but I saw a lot of great things throughout the system that have me excited about out future.

We're stacked with bats, and we have some nice pitching prospects as well.

The deadline's creeping closer. We should see some teams decide whether or not they're buying or selling.

Sully's earlier post begs an interestng question.... what are the Top organizations in the BLB right now when you combine the BLB team and the Minor League system?

I figure Windy City and Wilmington are in the Top 3, but who else...????

I don't think it's Washington, because their minors are not as deep as they use to be.

Cali, Virginia, Pawtucket and Mississippi have decent minors, but their BLB teams are awful.

                      Maine maybe? Davenport?

                        Dallas has to be considered.

Dallas is a good one... though I'd argue that the bulk of their best prospects are already in the BLB and contributing to the big club.

                            5-1 sim this week.

                            Guys really played well.

Hopefully we found something in Mendez our new SS. hit .364 for the week with 4 rbi's in his first week as a Kodiak.

Joe Stapley has been nothing short of amazing for us in the short amount of time he's been here. 7hr's 22rbi's in just 84 at bats. He'll be on the market come trade time if anyone is interested in a power hitting catcher.

On the flip side, #4 pick in this years draft C Manny Cisneros continues to struggle in A ball. 5-45 with only one extra base hit. Ouch.

Sorry it's just an idea I was throwing around. Not sure if it'll catch on or not. Maybe I'll just sell the rights....
