  • SIM COMPLETE - 1984 - Regular Season 8

    Next sim: Tuesday

    Sorry for the delay.

Just to let you guys know the 4th of July schedule. I will be away for a few days so we won't be having a sim on Thursday July 3rd or Sunday July 6th.

    4-3 just like I predicted...

Should of been 5-2. Blew the last game by giving up 4 in the 9th. That's got to change.

      5-2
Lost the first two games of the week to Batavia, then won our next 5, including a 4 game sweep of the Colonials.

Terrible. We take 2 of 3 from the leagues best, Sin City, and then get swept 4 games by Denver, two in extras. Our bullpen is so trash.

Looks like Joe Sierra woke up.

Scratch that... should of gone 6-1. Two blown saves.

            That HAS to change.

4-3 sim. Took 2 out of 3 vs the Tobbs, and split the 4 game series against the Bats. My Closer, Cleary brought in the only run of the game in extra innings in one of the games vs Washington...crazy!

Next sim I am playing my entire division: 2 vs Virginia, 2 vs Wilimington, and a 3 game series @ Washington.

If my Math serves me.... that's 7 sims between now and then. That would mean that last sim (Tuesday July 1st) would be the All-Star Game sim.

Pretty perfect timing for a break if you ask me!!!

                  The Bat Report

                  The Good
-Joe Sierra is hitting better. IL player of the week. He is now hittign .281 with 20 doubles, 3 homers, and 37 RBI. A far cry of where I expected him to be at this point, but he is hitting again.
-R.A. Grounds is hitting .377 with a .940 OPS in May. Sign of things to come?
-Mr. Inconsistent, SP Joe Rodriguez went seven scoreless against Morgantown, giving up just 2 hits, no walks, and striking out six.

                  The Bad
-CF Dan Hogan's averaged dropped down to .204 after a week in which he hit 1/23. He is still playing great defense, stealing bases, and hitting XBHs (.690 OPS), but .204?! Come on.
-LF Steve Bing isn't doing much better. He is currently hitting .260 with a .313 OBP. He is no longer my leadoff man.
-Of my loses this week, two were by 1-run, one was by 2-runs, two were by 3-runs. The Bats have now lost 8 of their last 13. I don't deserve to be in first place, and, I'm not.
-3-4 sim, 1-2 against Baltimore and split 2-2 vs. Morgantown.

                  The Ugly
-SP Romano Gonzalez is 2-5. Last season he went 20-8, and the year before 17-6.

                  Prospect Coverage
-Not one of my top prospects, but SP Jerry Hull (AA), is tearing it up. In 50.1 IP, 2.68 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 43 H, 44 Ks, 15 BB, 0 HR. And I play in a hitters park. He will be in Triple-A when the new prospects get put in.

                  Next Week
-Huge sim. 2 vs. Wilmington, 2 vs. Virginia, 3 vs. Morgantown. What a way to go into interleague play. I get the entire Stout, at home, in one-week. Time to see how good this '84 Bats squad is.

Looking at the sim for tomorrow... California should go at least 3-3.

Then again knowing our luck... we'll probably end up getting swept by Batavia.

An undefeated sim. Seven consecutive wins against Windy City and Batavia. Maybe this means we're finally turning the corner.
