  • Troy Rundle

Troy Rundle was claimed off waivers by Hartford during the sim in which all players out of options were waived. Instead of putting him on his active roster as required, he was simply demoted to Hartford's A team without ever having cleared waivers. Since no one else claimed him, I believe under the circumstances he should be treated as having cleared waivers (while with me) and returned to my AAA team.

Hmm. Personally I don't care either way. I don't even think I realized I claimed him. He probably got lost in the mix when X number of my guys cleared waivers and I shoved them back in the minors where they belonged.

Excellent grammar btw. From the tone of it, I would assume you and Diesel were together while writing this...?

You'll never be a ghost writer.... stick out like a sore thumb.

Anyway, I'm up for whatever on this. Pretty sure I'm not going to stick him on my BLB team, so I can either send him back (for a substantial fee), or put him back on waivers.

Or at least something close to that.

I couldn't complain if Whale had wanted Rundle for his BLB club but the waiver rule was not intended for transactions like this. I am in a penant race and even though Rundle's ratings don't look like much, he's always done OK in the BLB when he's had the chance. He was supposed to be my insurance policy in case one of my starters goes down.

Its actually a bug in the game. Can you believe that? A bug in OOTP!

I had the same thing happen. It was in the commish's to-do list to check this but it looks like it was easy to miss. I had one of the guys I claimed, go right to A. I just notified Andrew and put him on my active roster. However, if I wasn't looking for it, I wouldn't have even realized where he went.

                Seriously though, let's kill him.

Yeah I checked a few of them, but must have missed some.

However, I disagree that Rundle should go right back to Davenport. If Hartford can't find room on his active roster, he should waive and DFA him (or I will so so).

Shouldn't he be given a major league contract though, for which Hartford is now responsible? There needs to be a cost associated with claiming guys you have no intention of adding to your BLB roster.

It depends, what is the game supposed to do when you claim a guy? I think its supposed to put him on the DFA. He only gets a contract when he gets moved to the 25 man.

Well he pitched in the BLB last year... so I assume he'd already have that 280k contract.

That is, unless he signed a minor league contract over the winter.

But the whole point in claiming a guy in that spot is for him to go unto your BLB club. If there is no cost to making such a claim, it is clearly correct to simply claim everyone that one believes has possible value whom potential rivals are forced to waive.
