Now, I'm not saying that that Latham can't have a good season, but I would be shocked if he stays even near this pace. The guy is 37-years-old.

He's an overachiever. He's never hit above .318. He's never hit over 28 hr. He's 37. He never did this in Washington. Oh wait, you didn't say that.

As much as I ALWAY hate to say it... Diesel is right on this one. While there are exceptions to every rule... as I've said before.... water tends to find it's level. But, keep in mind.... getting a .300/25 HR season from a 37 year old would be fantastic and worth the money (which a team with your budget can afford).

Remember that this isn't MLB. .270 and 20 HRs is a solid season... especially in the IL.

I wouldn't be surprised if Latham kept it up and finished with numbers well over his career average. Lefthanded hitters should do well in the wacky ballpark. Looking at his home/away splits, it's definitely playing into his success.

Which would also explain why he's killing the ball against me... I built my stadium (aka Un-Gigga'd it) to be one of the more realistically leftie friendly in the league. Modeled after Tiger Stadium.

Funny. My stadium is an exact copy of Old Tigers stadium.

I didn't copy the dimension exactly (they are close) because I wanted to tweak the multipliers to get it to play like old tiger stadium. You can't simulate the rightfield overhang with just the dimension... I played with the numbers to get the splits that I thought were realistic. Sadly, I won't even tell you how much time I spent on this over my first three seasons.

Yah, that porch in right at Baltimore is ridiculously short. Latham should have a great season if he plays the way he's capable of. As for Tandy, he started out hot last year, then went into the shitter.

Which brings up a question I have wondered about for awhile. I get the impression that there is something going on in OOTP besides the ratings that we see. It seems to me that players and sometimes teams just get too hot or cold in OOTP for that to be explained by random good or bad luck. The incredible offensive performance by my team the first two thirds of last season, for instance, or one year as I recall, Maine lost their last 6 regular season games then got swept in the first round of the playoffs in a year that they figured to win it all. I can't help but suspect that there is something in the program that causes these kinds of extremes rather than just luck.

Any thoughts?

No, I never got to. I loved that park. So my tribute was to design the Mansion in it's image.

Which brings up a question I have wondered about for awhile. I get the impression that there is something going on in OOTP besides the ratings that we see. As long as I've played this game I think ratings like ours (2-8) which is usually more like (4-6) leaves a LOT of room for variation in numbers. There's a wide gap between being a "high" 6 and a "low" 5.

That's why we chose this scale. I think over a curve though, the ratings bear themselves out. I also may be crazy but it seems some players play well in certain months. I have nothing to prove this with, other than suspicion.

I also don't completely agree that "potential" ratings drops/increases are as random as most people do.

I had no idea that it was still up. How old is Comerica? Know of any sites with recent pics of the old Tigers stadium? I'm guessing it looks weird with trees growing in it.

I don't think you are crazy; in the SP I play I had a guy for awhile who would hit .400 every April, then fade to around .230 by the end of the year.

If you have an understanding of what causes the potential ratings drops/increases it's not fair to keep it to yourself is it? I haven't a clue myself.
