That was just me trying to determine how much the game replays would add to the league file. They'll only add about 1 MB though, rather than 4.

Well it took 17 minutes to close out today. Maybe my new computer...Intel® Core™2 Q6600 Quad-Core (8MB L2 cache,2.40GHz,1066FSB) will help it along a little more.

If I would have known 08 was faster I would have got it. No use now that I preordered 2009.

If I want to close the game quickly...

I just ctrl-alt-delete it... go to the task menu, and shut it down that way from the processes menu. Instantly shuts it down.

Mac's might be slightly different though.

My game takes me about 1 minute to shut down and I'm still running 2007.

I have a 2.17 GHz Intel Core Duo T2600, with 2 GB of RAM (I think this is the key). Oh, and this is a laptop. You'll be fine with those specs.

I wish I could go back to having a PC, my laptop can handle gaming well but its still a laptop. The video cards just can't compare. When I'm finally done with school (2 more years!), I'm going to build a beast of a gaming PC.

Thats usually how I close since its so much faster. Just be aware that it doesnt save the game however.

Just be sure to save first.

              FYI, Mac's are apple-option-esc.

Well got the new computer up and running...I have 3 GB of RAM...and so far I'm on 12 minutes and counting for closing out the game on 2007. I don't know what messages are saving but this is ridiculous. Is there something I can do in the setup for my team or something?

What kind of anti-virus are you using?

I know some people at the OOTP forums suggest telling mcafee to ignore the files in the game folder so it wont slow down. You may try that.

Also, make sure you dont have any other programs running in the background like any media players or whatever. That will slow it down as well.

Check the OOTP boards for a better idea of what I'm talking about. I'm at work right now and cannot access the OOTP boards, otherwise I'd link the post myself.

                      Hope that helps though.

                        Found the McAfee part...

                        >>>>>>>for the allowances section, if you go into the security center and select protection status, and then computer and files configuration, go to virus protection is enabled then advanced.

there is an option to go to manual scan, then default location to scan, and then you can unselect the my documents folder, which OOTP defaults to. and then you should be all good to go<<<<<<

I try this and it is still pretty slow to turn off...I gave up after 10 minutes.

LOL...so I turn OFF McAfee and it takes all of 3 seconds to shut down. I guess from now on whenever I play OOTP I will shut it off.

                        Thanks for the help!

You know, when I used McAfee I used to disconnect my modem and shut McAfee off when I played OOTP, but I wasnt sure you'd want to go through the trouble.

How much RAM do you have. I noticed when I added a gig to mine it helped quite a bit.

Not sure I was able to help much, but glad its running better for you!

I have 3 GB...Dual Channel. It only takes me about 10 seconds to shut off McAfee. Then I just turn it back on after I exit out.

There is no pause anymore what so ever at the 73% saving messages part. Just goes right though it.

It's great...you were a big help. I'll tell my pitcher to throw some meat balls to your guys when we play.
