  • It looks like my mock draft correctly named 19 of the 24 first round picks. Of those, 4 were exactly correct, 4 were off by one pick, 2 off by 2, 2 off by 3 and 2 more off by 5 picks.

It appears I missed badly on a couple guys. Not sure how to grade it, but I think I did OK for the most part. Thoughts?

That being said, the Clowns are pleased to take 3B Xalbador Ansoátegui. My top hitting scouts were thrilled with him, projecting him as a 5-6-7-6-4 and 6-6-7-6-4 guy with below average third base skills. But if he can hit, we'll find a spot for him.
If I had two picks in round 2 Ansoategui would have been one of them. My scouts were really high on his power potential.

He could be a Montez Dardon type... 30HR/100RBI's... .225 avg.

Over the fences or bust baby, thats gonna be our new team motto. The other teams will be doing it against us all season, why cant we try too?

Nah, you just missed it. Taylor was your radar. Yeah, he's gonna be that big. Especially since I didnt get him. I've drafted many SP's and the only one to keep his ratings is Gonzalez, but that could change any day now.

Had I gotten Taylor, he would've drilled Rex Knight in the head during BP, killing him. Taylor would've then quit the game only to roam the streets mumbling something about Tic Tacs and petting grown men on the head.

Two of my most promising prospects gone like that...

                      • I almost went that direction in my mock. I should have, but I'm not too clever.

Stafford was the top of my board... would have been my pick at 2.5 had I not traded it away. Good pick.

                          • Baltimore decided to give Stafford's cousin a shot in the hopes that this appeasement would prompt Hungry Hungry (For Money) Hank to submit to their retirement pleas.

                            • Thank you, Z. I really like the scouting on this game. Seems like you really don't know who to trust when it comes to your scout. Like for pitching, I have one scout who is awesome scouting pitching, however, there are people on the board that he detests but everyone else loves..who do you listen to(rhetorical)?

                              • I don't listen to my scouts anymore. This year I printed out the report of everyone in the draft. Then I went to Walmart and bought a cheap set of darts. It took seven tries before one of the darts actually struck the report, but Scott's name was hit. The rest is history.

This approach was prompted by the fact that my minor leagues are a desolate wasteland of failure. We have more busts than the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
