  • Pick is in. Scott was one of our favorite players in the draft so we're thrilled to get him this late in the first round.

    Windy City is up.

    • I made a list last night of about 14 players, hoping to land a couple of them in the first round. I'm guaranteed to land 4, so I'm pretty happy about that. We're moving along at a good pace.

      • Nice pick Jistic.

I was hoping he would last to #24...ass.

        • Happy to get Clark. I had Toiguchi set to go, but he was picked, and honestly i'm glad he wasnt there. I wanted him, but wasnt exactly sold on him, you know?

Gonna have to start a new list tonight for the next couple of rounds, but I still have a few guys left that I'm surprised are still there.

Thanks. He was the last hitter left at a certain grade level we had. Plus we need more OF. I like that a lot of people went after pitchers in the draft. It was one luxury we have this year not needed pitching prospects.

Yeah, I strongly considered him at #11 but decided to go pitching as well since I have none in my minors.

Jed Lewis was the other SP I was looking at but went with Suarez because he is closer to the majors according to my scouts.

Looking back at my trade with Syracuse last year, I have to say I'm very happy.

                Maine Gets:
                OF - Joe Cuevas
                CF - Galterio Tibaldi
                1st Round Pick (Suarez)
                $2 million

                Syracuse Gets:
                SP - Clarence Nicholson (AA)
                SP - Martin Roundtree (AA)
                RF - Joe O'Rafferty (AAA)
                LF - Napler Soleano (BLB)
                5th Round Pick

                • Good to hear. I'm a bit surprised Lewis was still around. He's really young but my scouts all like him and he's a lefty. Hopefully it works out.

                  • I was hesitant to, but passed on Lewis at 16 for Lopez. I was hoping to grab him at 20. If not, I was going with Esquivel. Still, despite being young at 1B, we went with what we thought was the best available hitter remaining on the board in Knegt.

I had Knegt on my big board for #24. Solid pick. I hate taking 1B, especially early, but I think he has legit power.

                      • Yeah, with Alvarez and Romo, I was hoping I'd get one of the two guys that went before me. Oh well.

                        • I liked Knegt a lot. Was hoping he'd slide to 2.5. I almost took him at 15, but was scared off by my history with Dutch players.

BTW - Thoughts on Toselli? My two top scouts love his CON/AVOID K's and, unlike SISA, they have him with average power.

Works for me. I can't make my next pick until around 9 or 10 ET. Heading to softball.

                              • I like Toselli's Contact, Gap and Avoid K's. I had him as one of the top contact hitters in the draft. A bit below average power, but some pop. Wish he was a bit faster on the bases.
