I wanted Clark, but there's another guy still there that I'm hoping to land.

That was Diesel's Senior yearbook quote.

I almost went with Clark at pick #5. Just too young and too many chances to take a random talent hit imo.

Of course, Cisneros could suffer the same fate... but he's so solid across the board that I've got to think... even with a talent hit, he'd turn into at worst an average regular for the Kodiaks some years down the road.

Am I missing something? I have Clark at 18. In fact, he has my b-day. I have him turning 18 on 3/12. How is that too young?

When he was scouted... he was still 17. He turned 18 during spring training... after the scouts already did their work... probably why some see him as so young.

BTW - In case, you're interested for frame of reference... here are the other Hitters taken so far and their "Shaver-Metrics" score:

Manny Cisneros (C) -- 8.70 -- Highest score since I started using this formula

              Hector Gonzalez (C) -- 7.52

              Bao-qing Yang (OF) -- 7.37

A total of 11 players scored north of 7.00 which, to me, equates to no-brainers if no random ratings drop comes or mismanagement. Two players scored over 8.00 with a third scoring 7.98. So, there are two players still out there in that range that I would love to see at 15.

One thing I noticed too is that I quick scouted a couple of guys that I had scouted normally 2 months ago. Some of their ratings have changed. Now I don't know if that's cuz they matured or because quick scout is less accurate? Makes things a little tricky.

I scout the Draft Pool with at least one scout in every sim for those types of things.

I had Clark as the #1 pitcher in the draft. I actually messed up and had it on auto-draft but I meant to take it off so I actually wouldn't have taken the guy I took...I really need SP so while I thought the guy I took was the best available if I didn't have it on auto I would've taken a SP.

As someone mentioned I do seem to draft pretty good (lucky & pretty good scouts I guess) so hopefully this one pans out. I do have several RP's coming up through the minors so I wouldn't be surprised if I trade this guy.

The problem with that is thought that not all scouts are created equal. It just adds more flavor though.

                      • So, do I get no feedback on Arlen Spencer? Anyone?

                        • I decided on SP Tino Suarez. He wasn't my highest rated P potential wise, but is the closest to being BLB ready. My scouts had him as a mix of 5/6/5 and 5/5/5 potential, with 4/4/3 current. I'm hoping he'll be able to start contributing to the BLB next season.

I was planning to go with a hitter here but with Yang and Toiguchi off the board, nobody else was really jumping out at me.

For sure... but I have two good scouts... one decent one... and some crap... I've learned to know, to an extent, who I can trust. The scout who hits on 3rd - 6th Rounds (Vern Branch, Marlon Todd, Ivan Perez) I tend to trust more and scout with more often.

Quick scout is very inaccurate. It's not building on what you already knew about him, basically just replacing that.

He looks like a Teagan Corrigan type pitcher if he develops. Low stuff but excellent movement and control. I really like these types of pitchers because they don't walk many people and don't allow many HR's.
