Do players continue to get better in the Majors or do you only keep them in minors until they peak? I ask because I've got a guy who is doing OK in AAA, and my scouts say he's ready to play in the bigs, but I'm not so sure. However, with the loss of Labrin to Cali, I need more power in the lineup. What's the general rule, if any, for moving through the ranks?

Players will continue to progress in the minors as long as they are PLAYING and playing somewhat well.

If you move a player to the majors, and they are ready, they will gain experience just by riding the bench, you don't even have to play them.

I'd advise against that, but that's the way it works... It would be a waste of a roster spot not to play a guy though. Especially with Stafford already taking up one slot.

Do you guys only promote to the Bigs if the scouts he's ready or you need to for an injury?

Ok? Everybody, don't all speak up at once.

            Testy much?

I usually use the recommendations as a guide, but look more closely at the stats, level and ratings. If I have a need I will be less cautious but if I am set on the BLB level I take my time. Tardif was the exception, not the rule (although some thought I was being too cautious by not bringing him up until May).

Everyone is different... some use that report... others go simply on stats... some both. Some won't let age factor in. Everyone is different. Safest method is use the report, player's expectations and stats.

Don't ask questions like that on Friday afternoon or evening if you want an answer. Ask them in the middle of the work week when many of us are stuck at work and don't have anything better to do.
