  • SIM COMPLETE - 1983 - FA 5

    Next sim: Thursday

No draft class in tonight's file. The game kept crashing when I tried to save after creating the draft class. I think this happened a couple seasons ago, I just need to look up the solution.

The next sim will be another 7 day sim. Reason being is I want to give people a chance to send out their scouts before the first 30 day sim.

    Remember to clear your DFA's!

"chance to send out their scouts"....

is there an option to do this automatically or can anyone give me any advice on who to scout when?

When the draft class is published it will add a new tab under BLB -> Transactions. You can then just go to the Action menu on that tab and choose which scouts you want to look at the draft. It takes them ~20 days to do so.

Does it start the download or fail at the end of it? The site is running kind of slow right now so that might be the issue. If not, I can re-upload.

Once it started and twice it could not open the FTP. Right now it's gotten to 28% though, so maybe it's straightened itself out from my end.

              I downloaded it fine

Comments: I thought I had withdrawn a contract for Lamberts after I signed Deel, but I still signed him. I'm not complaining, in retrospect withdrawing wasn't a good idea :). My lineup is a million times better than last year in my opinion. My pitching still stinks, but that will hopefully get better with time.

Also, I have officially withdrawn from the LaRochelle sweepstakes. He is asking for way, way too much cash for a pitcher of his skill level. I offered a lot of cash too!

On that note, I noticed I have a glut of potential outfielders and I need to make some tough decisions.

For some reason the withdrawals never seem to take. The best way to get rid of them is offer a contract so low you know they'll never take it. If you end up signing a player you don't want, let me know and i can move him back to the FA pool.

That's good to know and will be clutch in upcoming years :)

I'm not complaining though, I think mine was a blessing in disguise. It got me a player that I really like and got me to artificially drop out of the LaRochelle sweepstakes- I'm really curious how much he's going to make.

I really wanted to keep LaRochelle but he wanted way too much to extend, I can just imagine that his asking price on the FA market is absurd.

Wishing a happy retirement to some of the faces that graced teh halls of Colonial Park over the years. Many of these guys got their only cup of coffee in the bigs during Virginia's 1982 campaign that netted them the #1 pick:

                      Darío Mojera
                      Dantae Hernandez
                      John Lakin
                      Michael Moreland
                      Tom Block
                      Loren Spurrell
                      Gaiwan Powers
                      Denny McDaniel

Good luck in your future endeavors as over-zealous HS Baseball coaches, insurance sales man and Casino Greeters.

Pretty anti-climatic sim. The SISA rescout didn't do much to blow wind up my skirt. No draft class. Looks like all the overpaid... I mean well paid.... FA's are going DL. Still looks like some name players will be sitting home this spring. Good times, good times.

Noticed that John "The Tank" Brown retired as well. He was one of the best power hitters in the league over our first two seasons.

I have to say I'm pretty damn happy with how the offseason has gone for the Kodiaks so far.

Abran Lanbin signed with us for only 4.2 a year. Considering he was coming off a season where he hit .284/26/90 and I couldn't be happier with how cheap we got him for. Sure he's old, but with how much I brought my fences in this year, 26 HR's shouldn't be out of the question once again this year.

Jose Lorral will step in as our ace of staff this year at only 6.25 a year for the next five years. Hitting his stride at age 30, Lorral will hopefully be a steal for us, for years to come.

Jose Gailan was signed at 1.9 a year to come in and be a backup/starter for the Kodiaks on the infield this year. Coming off really good 81/82 seasons he tanked in 83... but he still has decent ratings and we hope a platoon situation will help him turn the corner this year.

The darkhorse of all my signings is SP Joe Poso. Poso is one of the great AAA pitchers the BLB has seen. Now California wants to know if he can hack in the bigs. We hope he can turn in a D.T. Fitts type season and be a stable option for us in the back end of the rotation.

I'm sure we'll still lose a ton of games this year, but I think I definitely made some quality upgrades at reasonable prices this offseason.

Yeah... he had a nice career considering he was like 33 when the '78 season started. Ended up at like .266 with 106 HRs and over 400 RBIs. He is also easily one of the greatest "sell high" trades in league history. Once he left Pittsburgh, he was never the same guy.
