Unfortunately I think Gil O'Moore will be added to that list. Although he hasn't really fulfilled his potential to this point so wouldn't be considered as much of a flameout. He has had some injury problems, doesn't have great endurance and has pitched a lot of innings.
Oh well, could be worse. I could have Judson Gill instead.
So what's a good pitch # to keep them from doing so?
No good answer to this. All we know is that there is some form of "pitcher abuse points" system in the game. Throwing a lot of pitches and innings at a young age will accrue more abuse points along with injuries and some other factors as well. I think the point at which they'll start to break down is different from pitcher to pitcher as well. So there really is no "right" way but I'm guessing keeping them on a fairly short leash (around 100 pitches per start and less than 200 innings a year) until they hit their mid 20's is the best strategy. That's pure conjecture on my part though.

I got everybody limited. I've been protecting my guys for awhile. You don't wanna rush these guys or over work them.
Mc Evoy is a work horse because he's protected I believe. He has the innings, but only because he's only had one minor injury his first year. He doesn't finish a lot of games though. But I'd rather have him long haul. He was I think 24 our first year of the league.

Ponte never had the endurance to throw a lot of pitches, at least to some of my scouts. He also has no real injury history to speak of. I didn't think of it at the time, but the move to a 4-man rotation in 1980 for a couple months probably didn't help.
Count me in with a vote for McEvoy (I can only hope). He's 29 though, so I don't know if that counts. Ponte went downhill starting at 25.
