A few familiar names signed this sim:

-Former Wilmington and Denver setup man Troy Sisk signed with Pittsburgh, four years $30 million. Pitt had the #1 SP ERA in the DL last year, but #6 in bullpen ERA. This signing makes sense.

-Veteran SS Rodger Gallegos leaves the Windy City for Mississippi at $13 million over three years. The Storm have a hole at 2B/3B, and Gallegos is plenty capable of playing both.

-The Kodiaks signed a bunch of FAs this sim, but none bigger than SP Jorge Lorral and LF Abran Lanbin. Lorral had a very solid 1983, and immediately becomes the ace of California. Lanbin is getting old, but he hit 29 HRs in 1981, 18 in 1982, and 26 last season. California's leader in 1983 was Tim Murcott, with 16. He know plays for Virginia.

-Former Clown RF Scott Neville leaves Indy for Mississippi at $8 million over three years.

-And the Washington Bats signed a few more minor leaguers. With the AAA pitching staff now set and in order, and a bunch of cuts now made, they are likely done. Oh, and my DFA is empty. Wake me when the draft class is announced.

I'm pumped about getting Neville and Gallegos. My offense from last year has been gutted and retooled. Injuries killed me last year and I think I have depth this year to avoid it. People who will see significant action in 1984 that weren't there in 1983 include:

-Benigno Ramos, the 1982 Fresh New Brew, who missed all of 1983 with a back injury
-Scott Neville, who provides needed pop and will play LF
-Roger Gallegos fills a void at 2B
-Roku Nakano will be the new 1B of the future for my squad
-Junior "Draft Pick" Shanan will be relied on in the bench

It took me awhile to even remember who the Kodiaks were. I thought they were an expansion team. So that's two former Playboys on your staff now. Good luck!

Hey! Be nice to the expansion teams!!

                Hehe...

BTW - There's a Playboy and "on my staff" joke somewhere in there... it's just too early.

FRIENDLY REMINDER TO THE EXPANSION TEAMS

Your minor league systems are still pretty bare. I'm sure you have multiple offers out there (which I can obviously not see)... but just remember that you need a full team when the season starts. Don't have to fill all 30 spots on each level, but you do need to be able to field a team on every level.

Not telling you what or how to do it. Just don't want you to be caught by surprise in Spring Training.

in fact you shouldn't fill all 30 spots. minor league teams are only supposed to have 25 players. the additional spots are meant to act as a DL. diesel's the only owner who keeps his minors packed to the brim.

I wish more people realized this. The amount of times I had to move players around because somebody had 31 players on a minor league team happened a lot more than people forgetting to take people off DFA last season.

My minors last year were a walking DL. I think I had 8 AA and A Starting Pitchers injured at the exact same time last year.

Linty cornered the market on 37 year old Dominicans this SIM. Guess a year on the Cali roster will kill their morale going into the '84 WBC.

Thank God that get good managing then... plus Diesel.
