  • Rule V status

It is my understanding that we can remove the Rule V status from a player if we work out a deal with the team from whom he was acquired. Is this correct?

In real life you can. Doubtful in OOTP, that is unless Andrew goes in under the hood and removes it from the player in-game... which I'm not even sure he can do?

I know there must be a way to remove Rule V status since Karl Skinner was drafted by you in last year's draft and somehow ended up pitching in Indy's minor league system during 1983.

There isn't a way for me to remove Rule 5 status but I can manually move players between teams.

So does this mean if I work out a deal with Syracuse for the guy I drafted you will move him to my AAA team if I decide to demote him? I'd like to have the flexibility to do this in case I add a FA infielder or acquire a 6th infielder via trade.

Nah, Skinner never pitched in the minors last year. He did pitch for Indy in the BLB last year.

            He's in their minors now.

Yes, I will. Just put it in the trade thread when you post it.

The thing to keep in mind is that even though I can manually move them to the minors, they keep the hidden Rule 5 pick status (which I can't edit) so if you called them up later in the season, you'd have to PM me again to send them down.

Either way, he should have been sent back to Davenport when he was released, rather than just put in the general free agent market as it appears.

It's a problem with OOTP, as I don't know of a good way of sending Rule V players back without having the commish do it manually.
