Rule V Draft and the 60-day DL

I noticed that in-game all players on the 60-day DL and with enough service time are designated eligible for the Rule V Draft. Can players be on both the 40-man roster and the 60-day DL? I didn't think so but that would seem to be the only way to protect an injured player still on the 60-day DL. Perhaps there is a rule that injured players (at least ones on the 60-day DL) are not eligible for this draft but I have never heard of it.

I assume that players who are no longer injured but have not been removed from the 60-day DL are eligible for the draft since otherwise teams could portect extra players this way.

Can somebody find a reliable source on exactly who should be eligible for the Rule 5 draft, and who shouldn't? This is one area of the game that seems to constantly change and always confuses me.

I *think* any player with more than 3 years of Professional service but is not on a 40 man roster is eligible. Technically this includes players on the 60 day DL, but I believe this is a special status in which they are still protected.

However, I agree that players on the 60 day DL but are no longer injured should be eligible to be taken.

If you have players on your 60 day DL that aren't injured anymore, they should be moved back to your 40 man/active rosters.

Earlier versions of the game limited it to players with > 3 years but < 6 years but this rule doesn't exist in real life and I believe was fixed in the last OOTP 2007 patch.

Except the players who are no longer injured. They should be moved back to a normal roster.

I think it is simplest if we make our rule be that injured players still on the 60-day DL are not eligible. Otherwise, we need a rule that allows players to be on both the 60-day DL and the 40-man roster. Perhaps they can be in-game by simply adding them back to that roster at some point; I am not sure.

The other baseball league needs a rule that allows players on a minor league contract to be drafted since it would often be debatable whether or not a player is actually injured. We do not have that problem.

Also, in-game even players who are on a major league contract (see Tusinayoshi Sato of Dallas, for instance) are designated as eligible.

No, players on the 60-day DL who are in their auto renewal years get minor league deals after the season ends. This may apply to aribitration eligible players as well but I don't think so.

But in our league to go on the 60-day he has to have been on the Active Roster at the time he went on the 60-day DL. Therefore, he has a Major League contract and the point should be moot.

That is not true of a player who was on an active roster and was injured but still did not have enough service time to be eligible for the draft. That player could still be on the 60-day DL and though no longer injured, he would not be eligible for the draft. Ryan O'Conner from my team would be an example except that he is still injured.

But how would one get on the 60 Day DL without having a BLB contract?

Well I know I'm new but I've got a guy in AAA who's hurt and eligible for Rule V but can't be put on 60-day DL, because he was in AAA. I don't want him picked up, what can I do?
