AP (Claremont) - In a landmark announcement for the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />California organization, General Manager David Lint announced the team will undergo sweeping changes next year starting with a new name, and new logo.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Speaking before a packed house, Lint spoke on a variety of topics including the desire for the team to lose their old identity, and to create a new future as a force in the expanding BLB.

“The first change is a purely cosmetic one, but something we felt needed to be done to exercise the demons of the past in the California organization. With that being said, our team will no longer be known as the California Wildfire” the young GM said.

“From this moment forward, we are now the California Kodiaks.”

“Our change is not limited to just changing of the team name, we also have new uniforms that we believe are on par with the very best the BLB have to offer.”

After announcing the uniform changes, Lint also spoke on some of the other changes fans can expect to see in the coming year.

“We’d also like to announce a major renovation to In-and-Out Field as we have decided to invest 22 million dollars of our stadium fund money that we have wisely saved over the years into bringing a more enjoyable product to the fans of the Kodiaks. Included in the 22 million dollars is the major overhaul of outfield distances, and wall heights.”

When asked why the Kodiaks decided on making changes to the stadium, Lint had this to say, “Our goal with these drastic changes is to offer an even playing field for our emerging new talent. As fate would have it most of our young talent is left handed. With that being the case, we thought it best to reign in the right field area of the diamond. For years our stadium has been known as a place where left handed hitters careers come to die; and just as we have shown we are committed to changing the look of the organization, we are also committed to changing the playing conditions to give every advantage possible to our talented young players.”

With his closing remarks Lint continued to promise more changes as well telling the fans what they should expect in the coming year for their California Kodiaks.
