  • Introducing the California Kodiaks

AP (Claremont) - In a landmark announcement for the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place> organization, General Manager David Lint announced the team will undergo sweeping changes next year starting with a new name, and new logo.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Speaking before a packed house, Lint spoke on a variety of topics including the desire for the team to lose their old identity, and to create a new future as a force in the expanding BLB.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
“The first change is a purely cosmetic one, but something we felt needed to be done to exercise the demons of the past in the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place> organization. With that being said, our team will no longer be known as the California Wildfire” the young GM said. <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
“From this moment forward, we are now the California Kodiaks.”<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
“Our change is not limited to just changing of the team name, we also have new uniforms that we believe are on par with the very best the BLB have to offer.”<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>

After announcing the uniform changes, Lint also spoke on some of the other changes fans can expect to see in the coming year.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
“We’d also like to announce a major renovation to In-and-Out Field as we have decided to invest 22 million dollars of our stadium fund money that we have wisely saved over the years into bringing a more enjoyable product to the fans of the Kodiaks. Included in the 22 million dollars is the major overhaul of outfield distances, and wall heights.” <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
When asked why the Kodiaks decided on making changes to the stadium, Lint had this to say, “Our goal with these drastic changes is to offer an even playing field for our emerging new talent. As fate would have it most of our young talent is left handed. With that being the case, we thought it best to reign in the right field area of the diamond. For years our stadium has been known as a place where left handed hitters careers come to die; and just as we have shown we are committed to changing the look of the organization, we are also committed to changing the playing conditions to give every advantage possible to our talented young players.”<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
With his closing remarks Lint continued to promise more changes as well telling the fans what they should expect in the coming year for their California Kodiaks.<o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
“Today is the first day of a new era in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">California</st1:State></st1:place> baseball. These past few years have been tough on the fans of <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">California</st1:place></st1:State> and I’m here to tell you, we hear you, and we are ready to correct those failures in all ways necessary.”<o:p></o:p>

I think the most shocking part of this announcement is the fact that there are California fans.

Jokes aside... great work on the logo and uniform. I think they look great. Like I told you before, not sure we needed another blue team in the league, but I think your new image is among the best in the BLB.

    Good work.

    But your team still sucks.

    And thanks again for Murcott.

I saw that! I almost wanted to delay announcing it as to not steal your thunder! If you had posted something about you starting to make changes I would have held off!

Nevermind... saw it on the front page. Nice work.

Denver is supposed to be announcing at some point too.

I also heard through the grapevine yesterday of yet another team changing UNIs (just unis) this off-season.

Funny thing is that its pretty realistic

Uniform turnover in the MLB is pretty frequent

Linty, I guess the more the merrier? We can all rejoice in ditching our old unis!

For sure. Even if it's just a numbering font or something, teams change a lot.

I stole one of your ideas Clay and put my team's emblem on the shoulder of my uniform.

                    :)

Mine is a 35th Anniversary patch that I actually need to take off. But, I did do the logo patch on the new Morgantown Mohawks unis.

I like the new name and I really like the logo. Another fierce animal running around this league.

I will be making my announcement and unveiling soon. Only a logo change as I really like my team's uniforms and the simple D across the hat. Kinda gives me that traditional NY Yankees feel to it.

But I'll wait a few days so I don't steal your thunder.

I'd love to see the Denver organization get new minor league names and UNIs. I understand that there is some tradition to carry a name throughout an entire org, but it confuses the heck out of me when all of your players look identical with the exception of the letter on the hat.

I'd have to think about it but I get your point.

I've kinda warmed up to the uniform and name being the same. I've kinda considered it a bit backwards but that's how we think in Denver - something like that.

Instead of it being this great feeling to put on that BLB uniform you're more excited about the D on the hat.

In my own little world I kept it because I want the kids to remember what organization they play for every day. To realize that no matter what they are a Bull. And the hat change is their medal. It's the ranks they climb from LR to O to T and finally to D. That's why I want every one of my young players to play in A ball no matter their talent. They need to know what it's like to start from the bottom so they can appreciate the top.

                            End Fantasy.

Of course, Chet Reed cheated and jumped over O. He didn't like Oklahoma. Has something against it.
