  • SIM COMPLETE - 1983 - Offseason 1

    Next Sim: Thursday

I've extended the DFA time to 30 days for the duration of the off-season. Please try to keep your DFA clear to make simming easier since the off-season sims cover a lot more time than normal.

    DFA Fines:
    Washington $550,000 (11 players)

Diesel... stop using your DFA as a 4th minor league roster. There's absolutely no need to keep that many players on DFA and keep shuffling them around.

EDIT - I confused things a little bit on the schedule. Offseason 1 went from the end of playoffs to pre-arbitration. Offseason 2 will go from Pre arbitration until pre free agency. I didn't charge DFA fines to anybody who had a player with > 7 days left on their DFA time at the start of this sim. The players were moved to your minor league teams. (check the transactions page in the html)

Dumb question, when I exported last sim (after making several cuts) I had 40 million in budget room. Now I have 14 million in free budget room... what happened? Something doesn't add up- I have 18 million in staff and payroll and a 60 million dollar budget.

And McEvoy will remain a Playboy...woot!

Was able to front load a little bit due to the fact that next year we won't be paying anybody anything. After all our trades, we cleared salary, aquired prospects and draft picks, and retained McEvoy and Simmons.

Off the field, a GREAT year.

Well, I see what happened- it seems that I suddenly got 26 million in added player expenses? I released several players with option years after declining their options last sim and I didn't see any added costs at that time. Then this sim, bham I got 26 million in player expenses which I assume is the costs of the option years of those players.

When I released those guys after declining their options, I didn't get the typical message, "Releasing this player will add $X to your player expenses" so I'm a bit confused by this. If you see my log, I declined all those options.

Is there any way to fix this bug/glitch? The only players I released last sim were either arbitration eligible or guys with team options. Basically, I need the $26,484,475 recouped

You shouldn't get tagged with the contracts regardless, but I'm unclear about the practice of cutting players. Once you decline the option they are officially a FA at the end of the year. They are still on your roster because FA's didn't file yet. As I said, it shouldn't matter but why?

Yeah, that's why I'm confused. The Front-Office tab usually updates in real time. When I let those guys go after declining their options, I didn't see any added costs. If I had, I would have definitely redownloaded the league file and re-exported (as I do when I make other mistakes).

Anyway, I'm sure this will be taken care of. The thing that pisses me off more is that McEvoy resigned with Windy City- I was ready to throw the bank at that dude :(

Damn you Jistic! J/K- great move, you've done a damn good job retooling your squad.

It looks like Dunlop's option year got added to my player expenses as well, so same thing for my team. I believe it was for $12 million, so I'm not sure where the other money in my player expenses comes from.

Rogers accepted my extension, I'm happy about that.

I got the best Scout on the market. I'm considering that a victory. I guess I had the advantage because I gave him the Head Scout gig. Hehe... Head Scout.

So, are we allowed to offer FA contracts now to all of these released guys or are we holding to the "wait till FA" rule?

Alright, I am officially lost. I have no Pitching Coach. I can't figure out how to offer a contract to a PC. When I go to available personnel, if I bring up a profile of a PC, the only option I have is to shortlist them. Last sim I figured I just had to wait, but now that I see everyone else is signing coaches, I realize I'm stupid or doing something wrong. Any help?

Also.... sorry to keep asking these questions, but this is my first offseason and I really don't know exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

I have no guys going to FA that I want to resign, but I do have a ton of guys who are arbitration eligible and/or automatically renewed who I want to get to stick around. What do I need to do before Thursday to make sure that happens? Thanks guys.

On the Available Personnel screen, you can right click on the coach's name and it should bring up an option to sign them.

My transactions say that I hired a scout, but it turns out he's the guy that Clay signed. I hope it didn't add that to my staff payroll.

Arbitration and auto-renew players will automatically receive new contracts. You don't have to do anything. If you don't want to keep them around, you need to release them.

WTF? My exports appear to not be going through. My file, all I had DFA was Chaim Lamberts, Jorge Taracena, and Gary Lipincott, all of whom are to be released.

I even checked the export tracker and it had it there. And I exported 10+ times, so it didn't save any of them.
