  • SIM COMPLETE - 1983 - Playoffs 1

    Next sim: Thursday

Congrats to the winners. Just a reminder that there isn't a sim on sunday.

With #3 SP Cristofor Villazon going down, SP Charlie O'Rogan pitching out of the pen recently, I am going to have to get creative for my game one starter. This is going to be interesting.

Also starting SS Jack Dynes will miss games #1 and #2 of the series due to injury.

I never saw a sweep coming especially Pittsburgh going down.

Congrats. I hope that Washington's injuries don't compromise the chance for a competitive series.

Reason #23,457 why it sucks to be Virginia....

1982 First Rounder Yoritoki Maeda... during the off-season....

          <TABLE class=lpo style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 12px" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=911><TBODY><TR><TD class=sl width=80>10-05-1983</TD><TD class=sl width=831>-- Injured (undisclosed injury), out for 1-2 weeks.
          </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><TABLE class=lpo style="MARGIN-BOTTOM: 12px" cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=911><TBODY><TR><TD class=sl width=80></TD><TD class=sl width=831></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
Now we're getting UNDISCLOSED INJURIES in the OFFSEASON!!!! Frick! He took a ratings hit! Damnit!!!

Might be a HUGE pain in the ass and bitch to coordinate.....

But what if in future playoffs... since they're live anyway.... give the Managers the oppotunity to make game by game adjustments in case of injuries?

Just thinking outloud... but what if the Playoff Coaches and Andrew (if he isn't one of them) are all on Yuugu or whatever... AIM... and Game 1 gets simmed accross the board. Any injuries can then be reported and a manager can make a change based on that. ONLY INJURIES. Not slumps or anything else... just injuries.

Didn't burn anyone this year, but it would make things a little more realistic in the future. Again, not talking exporting and reimporting and stuff.... just if like I'm in the Playoffs (haha) and Wilton Harcourt goes down, I would want to sub in someone like Antonio Neal (which the AI could do), but I would want to move him down to the 9 spot and move Nelson or Fortin into the 4.

              Just posting outloud.

That's not a bad idea...assuming all managers are present during the sim, and they agree to it. Diesel asked if he could make changes. Since Riverman wasn't there, it wouldn't be fair to allow Diesel to make changes mid-sim.

I think, if implemented, you just say... this is the SIM time... all playoff managers who attend with have that option if these circumstances occur. Any manager who can not attend needs to understand that that is the risk he/she (Diesel) is taking.

I'd be very hesitant to allow one team to make changes when the other couldn't, which is why we'll probably never do this one. I like the idea of allowing teams to manage the games, but I'm not sure it's that practical.

I think it is a great idea.

I think it's a bit overkill for the games. It's already a lot of work for each owner to get the SIM's in on time, and a lot more time on Stu having to manage the league. We run into situations that people miss SIM's due to vacations and other personal reasons, and I don't think it would be fair to allow one owner to make changes that another owner couldn't be there for it. In addition, could start us down a slippery slope of making live SIM changes and all that, or in other words the next proposal on the table would take us even deeper into this topic. I do understand it's just for injuries and that they don't happen all that often in the playoffs, but it's a bit too much IMHO.
