1983 Playoff Predictions and Discussion

This is the first playoff appearance for Pittsburgh, Washington, and Davenport. This will be Sin City's 2nd time in the post-season after last years loss to Wilmington in the Brewmaster's Championship.

In the DL, Pittsburgh has homefield against Sin City. Pitt is #2 DL pitching team, while Sin City is the #2 DL hitting team. Pittsburgh won the season series 10-5.

In the IL, Washington has homefield against Davenport. Wash is the #1 IL pitching team, while Davenport is the #1 IL hitting team. Washington won the season series 10-8.

So, who ya got?

I'm obviously biased but....I'll take:

Sin City over Pittsburgh in 7 - Pittsburgh is the better pitching team, but I will take the Joyce-O'Connelan-Geake SP trio over Pittsburgh's any day. With the group healthy, Sin City repeats as DL Champion.

Washington over Davenport in 5 - I just think my starting pitching will be too much. I wouldn't expect Davenport's bats to be ice cold in the series, but it is going to be really tough to put up runs against my big three.

Washington over Sin City in 6 - If Sin City can beat Pittsburgh early, and I struggle with Davenport, I think Sin City could very easily take this. I am banking on the DL winner to have to take it to at least six games. Plus, I'm hoping my rotation sets up nicely again.

I think the winner is coming out of the IL again this year, and the Davenport/Washington matchup should be a close one.

I think Sin City is probably the better team, but I think Pittsburgh is playing better and has played them really well head-to-head.

Washington over Davenport in 7

My gut and instincts tell me Davenport in a 7 game classic, but I have to use my own team as a base of reference. I played Davenport tough all season, while Washington owned me. Embarrassed me most of the time. I'm going to use that to give it to the Bats in 7.

Gotta go with the IL and the Stout to make it two in a row. I think a Diesel Championship could make this forum insufferable, but I've gotta call it like I see it. The IL has been the Pitcher's league for years, but I think Washington (and Davenport) can hit with anyone.
