      I thought we were talking about people who had good seasons and I was noticing this moring what an underrated season Murcott had and a ton of those numbers came on your team... most in fact.

      He finished in the Top 10 in all of these (positive) categories:

      GS = 155 (1)
      Hits = 173 (7)
      Triples = 8 (9)
      SB = 32 (7)
      Runs = 99 (10)
      Avg = .299 (9)
      OBP = .373 (8)
      RC = 105.35 (10)
      RC/27 = 6.60 (10)
      TAVG = .901 (5)
      VORP = 51.3 (8)

      That's a nice season.

        Latham finished with the same number of RBI's as Murcott did in less at bats after the trade. Interesting.

        And yes, I'm not sure how Murcott dominated in my ballpark... unless, we were all wrong, and my park is actually a haven for LH.

          Latham is going to be a nice player... I just didn't need another Catcher. Alberto Hernando took the leap... I have Fortin... and Marlon Todd came out of nowhere in the low minors. I liked Latham a lot, but he was expendable because, most likely, he would have been converted to 1B and I have Brad Talbert in AAA who will want that job... plus, most likely, Fortin moves to first and platoons with Bill Johnson (who'll hit lefties) next season with Hernando taking over as the everyday Catcher.

          I think Latham is a good one though. We love Murcott though.

            As you should. He's not worth the 18 million I signed him for, but he's easily worth around 10+ a year. Definitely one of the better hitters out there.

              He's worth 18 in (a) a world where some of the guys are making 21-24 who aren't as good and (b) on a team with a $95.0 payroll. That 18 is a lot higher to a team with a budget like yours than a budget like mine. That being said, if he bottoms out, he's worthless to anyone.

              P.S. Latham and Murcott, BTW, don't really stack up head-to-head because Latham should be driving in runs from the 4-6 spot. Murcott is batting 2nd on my team and scored 22 runs in his 29 games in VA. Latham, out of the meat of the order, scored only 3. Point being, in my lineup, Murcott can be what he's suited to be. I don't need him to hit HRs or drive in 100 runs. I need him to get on base, steal a few, and score 100 runs.

                It's very quiet here today for the day after, arguably, the biggest SIM in BLB history.

                  Ordinarily I'd be in here gloating but since my team sort of backed in going 8-11 the last three sims, I'm not quite up to that.

                    I congratulate those teams who have made the playoffs for the first time, we've got some nice rebuilding stories here. I know how frustrating it can be to just miss on the postseason, as my team seems to be a game or two short every year.

                    I'm disappointed to finish 1 game back, but we exceeded my expectations by a good margin this season. I still don't know where I'm going with this team, but they've stayed competitive despite some incompetent GM work.

                      I had some discussions with Linty about Murcott and ultimately decided not to pull the trigger because of the money involved.

                      I needed a bat but I hesitated on Murcott. Looking at how my team played in July - ultimately falling behind and making it difficult to catch up - I should have pulled the trigger when I had the chance.

                      Good move to add him.

                        When are retirements? Old man Kellum's productions has dropped off to non-existent and I'm wondering when he will pass into the next world.
