  • 1983 Expansion Draft Rules/Info/Discussion

    General
    - At the end of this season, we are adding 2 teams to the IL.
    - There will be realignment and the Playoffs expand after the teams are added.

    Expansion Draft
    - There will be 3 Expansion Rounds
    - Round 1 will be 28 picks (14 per expansion team)
    - Round 2 will be 28 picks (14 per expansion team)
    - Round 3 will be 14 picks (7 per expansion team)
    - Teams protect 15 players plus the last 2 drafts are automatically protected. They can add 3 players after each round.
    - Teams can lose no more than 2 players in Round 1, 2 players in Round 2 and 1 player in Round 3. This limits a team's losses to 5 players total.
    - Expansion teams will be provided a custom league file with scouts off, and all ratings set to a 1-5 scale.

    Draft Order
    - Expansion teams will be awarded the 1st and 2nd picks in their first Amateur Draft and their first Rule 5 draft. Draft order was determined by seperate coin flips and will alternate each round of each draft. The following team will pick first in the corresponding drafts:
    - Expansion draft: Morgantown
    - Rule 5 draft: Morgantown
    - Amateur draft: Batavia

    Financials
    - Expansion teams will receive the following initial financials:
    - Market Size = 3
    - Fan Loyalty = 5
    - Fan Interest = 100
    - Expansion teams can design a Stadium under the same parameters as initial BLB stadium construction.

I see Morgantown got the #1 pick in the Expansion Draft... so, based on that, Batavia gets #1 in the Rule 5.... but which one gets #1 in the Rookie Draft? I know it alternates round to round, but I don't remember how we did it.... new coin flip?

Haha, I was wondering if maybe Andrew made a late edit.

I finally got a break here at work and was able to get going. I have my list of players ready and should be able to keep making picks till I have to go to bed tonight. Work sucks this week so picks during the day for me might not be doable.

I didn't get to play much SP like I wanted, so I bet I make some dumb mistakes during this draft cause I don't know any better.... oh well still should be a blast!

We need like a Mel Kiper to analyze each pick. I nominate Jistic.

Never be afraid to ask questions. Nobody wants to see you struggle with the game. We want to have a competitive league, but, moreso, we want it to be fun.

No such thing as a stupid question. Ask in public... send PMs... people will help you.

The Lillie pick is no good. He's protected.
