Tentative Off-Season Schedule

Here is a very tentative schedule for the rest of this season, expansion and the off-season. Let me know if you have any comments or questions.

T 4/1 - Regular Season 9/12-9/18

Th 4/3 - Regular Season 9/19-9/25

S 4/6 - Regular Season 9/26-10/2

T 4/8 - Playoffs - LCS

Th 4/10 - Playoffs - Brewmaster's Championship

S 4/13 - NO SIM

T 4/15 - Offseason 1 - Playoffs to Start of Off-Season
Length: 7-12 days
Export Notes: Decline options. Release Arbitration eligible players. Re-sign players before FA.

Th 4/17 - Offseason 2 - Start of Off-Season to Post Arbitration
Length: ~21 days
Export Notes: Last chance for trades and to re-sign players before FA.
**Commish Note: Schedule expansion draft in game before uploading league file.

S 4/20 - NO SIM - Expansion lists due. They can be submitted in game for OOTP 8 users using the league file from the previous sim. However, a full list of 25 players MUST be submitted by PM as well.

M 4/21 - Expansion Draft Begins

Th 4/24 - Expansion Draft

S 4/27 - Expansion Draft (if necessary)

T 4/29 - Expansion Draft (if necessary)

The schedule below will be modified based on how long the expansion draft takes.

Th 5/1 - Offseason 3 - Post Arbitration to Rule 5 Draft
Length: ~21 days
Export Notes: You can start making FA offers after this sim. Make sure to place players you don't want to lose in the Rule 5 draft on your 40 man roster (Players with the # sign next to their name)

S 5/4 - Free Agency 1 & Rule 5 Draft
Length: 7 days. Rule 5 Draft will happen on this day.

T 5/6 - Free Agency 2
Length: 7 days

Th 5/8 - Free Agency 3
Length: 7 days

S 5/11 - Free Agency 4
Length: 7 days

T 5/13 - Free Agency 5
Length: 7 days

Please note, it is important to keep your DFA clear during the next two sims so we don't get hung up.

Th 5/15 - Free Agency 6 to Start of Pre-Season (Draft Class published)
Length: ~30 days
Export Notes: Make sure to scout the draft class

S 5/18 - Start of Pre-Season to Spring Training
Length: ~30 days

Th 5/22 - First half of Spring Training
Length: ~15 days

T 5/27 - Second half of Spring Training AND Amateur Draft Starts
Length: ~15 days

Th 5/29 - 1984 Regular Season begins

For clarification, the "Export Notes" are what takes place leading up to OR after the sim that it is connected to?

For example:
T 4/15 - Offseason 1 - Playoffs to Start of Off-Season
Length: 7-12 days
Export Notes: Decline options. Release Arbitration eligible players. Re-sign players before FA.

We decline options and release players BEFORE we export for this 4/15 SIM

OR

We decline options and release players AFTER we get this file and then it would bepart of our export for for Thursday.

Do you remember how long the '82 Expansion Draft took?

Export notes are for what you need to do BEFORE the sim.

The first expansion draft took about a week.

If we did longer periods on time for FA phases, would players sign quicker? I think it's painfully slow right now and free agency is going to be even thinner this season. Could we go 10 days or 14 days?

In my experience they don't sign more quickly but owners lose some opportunities to make counter offers. FA's do begin to lower their expectations as FA drags on however so it has it's benefits and drawbacks either way.

I think it's usually just 1 off day.

Is it right that when I release Auto Renewel and Arbitration eligible guys right now I am being charged under Player Expenses? I thought this was the time to do it????
