1983 Awards Predictions

Stout Slugger - Everardo Gremades, Pittsburgh. He's top 5 in practically every major hitting category. Honorable mention goes to Harry Keppel of Hyundai. This award probably goes down to the final game.

Pale Ale Pitcher - Teagan Corrigan, Maine. Honorable mention goes to Tommy Lang of Denver.

Refreshing New Brew - Frank Rancourt, Syracuse. Honorable mention to Gil Melgoza of Dallas. This one will be interesting. Don Chaundler could be in the mix.

Last Call Relief - Grant Lewis, Pittsburgh. Honorable mention to Joe White of Hyundai. Lewis should win this one easily.

Stout Slugger - Jose Llombart, Davenport. Honorable mention to Dave Robbins of Davenport. Robbins can make it interesting, but it's Llombart that makes the Davenport offense tick.

Pale Ale Pitcher - Joe Aurillo, Philadelphia. Honorable mention to Joe Chavarraga of Washington. This one should be a no-brainer. It's no disrespect to Chavarraga either. He's putting together one of the best seasons a pitcher has ever had in the BLB. Aurillo's just on another planet right now.

Refreshing New Brew - Joe Rodriguez, Washington. Honorable mention to Dale O'Hegarty of Virginia, and Greg Josey of Philadelphia. I guess Tardif isn't eligible or the award is his. Josey and O'Hegarty can easily win this one with a solid September.

Last Call Relief - Casimiro Cabezas, Carolina. Honorable mention to Brian Hanrahan and Vernon Simmonds.


J. Allen Wright - Riverman, Davenport. Honorable mention to rubisco of Hyundai and JJLinn of Pittsburgh.

I have to disagree on Melgoza vs. Rancourt...at least with today's stats. Yes, Rancourt is hitting 20 points higher but Melgoza has more hits (145 vs. 137), more RBIs (91 vs. 41) & more HRs (15 vs. 2). Rancourt just has the 20 point advantage and more SBs (9 vs. 1).

I think a rookie who drives in 100+ runs is a rare find so hopefully he'll snag the New Brew as a result.

My main reason for picking Rancourt was also the higher OBP and OPS. I don't think can go wrong with either. It'll be a close vote.

I pretty much agree on the 1st 2 posts. Although, Keppel's late season numbers the past few seasons are nothing short of amazing. It ain't over yet!

I really hope this is finally Cabezas' year to win the Last Call Relief award. He's finished 2nd 3 times and 3rd once, so he's been close.

Is the awards page going to be updated with 1982's winners and voting? I know the winners were announced in the forum, just wondering about the actual page.
