  • State of the BLB

We're heading into our second season, so I just wanted to get eveyone's opinion on how things are going so far. I know the 1st season was a work in progress, but things should go much smoother for this season. Just a few of my thoughts:

    - Participation is an ongoing issue that I don't expect to ever go away.
    - I'd like to see more articles written. We started off strong, but things tailed off as the season progressed.
    - I like scouting so far, and I don't think it adds too much extra work once you get into a routine.
    - I'd like to enter everyone's real name for their Manager in game. I think it will add to the realism and also avoid seeing Giggas Gotay's or HrfdW Castro's in the draft pool.
    - The facepack/uniforms will probably be in place for Sunday's sim. I don't have enough time to do it during the week, so will work on it this weekend. I think we need to create a few more uniforms but most are done.

Please give your thoughts. What do you like, not like? What could be done better? What changes, if any, should we look at for next season? I'd like everyone to participate in this discussion, even if its just to say all is well.

    - Any thoughts on injuries? too many, not enough?
    - Any changes to stats? I lowered strikeouts a little bit but thats all I changed.

I think stolen bases need to be lowered somehow. Other than that, I've been enjoying everything.

I thought the stats ended up being right on. I wish there was a way to avoid "freak" players (you know who you are), that takes away from the realism for me.

I lowered the era settings for SB's from Normal to Rarely after the playoffs. This will help some, but it's really up to individual managers after that to adjust their strategy settings.

I thought the first season was great, looking forward to many more. Other than offseason things that we know about now (more time for free agency), I think everything went pretty well.

Now if only I can get the Tobs into the playoffs.

No complaints from me. I think we weathered the little bugs in the game pretty well, even though we lost a few GM's. Looking forward to the upcoming season. Hopefully involvement (myself included) will get a little stronger as we get deeper into the league.

Great job Stu. I may not like you as a person, but you're one hell of a commish.

i agree, this is a great league.
I came on late last year, and fortunately I had a good team. I think this league will grow from here, especially with the quality of owners we have.

I am happy. I really like scouts on. I think I would prefer playing with injuries normal rather than rare but it is not a big deal. I'll probably have some suggestions after I have been in the league longer.
