I did use "or" not and... plus... I don't have a need at SS, I'm very satisfied with O'Hegarty. However, if it was a position of need and I had the budget, I would certainly offer prospects for Sanchez.

I guess you are more of a risk taker than I am. I'd be very reluctant to offer a top prospect for a guy I might only have for one month. I'm always worried a potential FA will refuse to negotiate with me.

If you really do have the nerve for such deals you could move O'Hegarty to third or have you got that position covered too even after the trade of Arce?

Obviously Maeda will be our 3B in a few seasons - I would guess '85 at the absolute earliest. Joshua Poling (who came over in the same deal with O'Hegarty may be playing 3rd next season. I'm still not convinced that Ed Cheatem can't keep the job either..

A move for Sanchez, while not crazy to me, wouldn't help me in '84, so I'd most likely have to pass because '85 could be Maeda time. That is, if he ever develops all the way... he is from the unfortunate 16 year olds draft.

Yeah, it sucks. Guy put up monster numbers in 53 games. 24 doubles?!?! Wow.

Oh well. It's allowing me to experiment with Romo in the OF a little earlier than I anticipated. Dani Alvarez is getting the call-up.

Dani Alvarez would be a member of the "Lindsey Hunter All-Stars" for the Bill Simmons readers out there.

I can't wait. And yes, I'm actually waking up before work to watch it.

No effect on the sims though.

Lost two one-run games to Davenport, then won four straight blowouts (1 vs. Dav, 3 vs. Balt).

I'm really excited about my team. A lot of players are finally picking up the slack. Dan Hogan, R.A. Grounds, Chaim Lamberts, and Gary Lippincott are all playing significantly better than they were earlier in the season for me. If my offense can keep this pace up in the playoffs, Washington will be very hard to beat. I have the division pretty much wrapped up, and hopefully can coast, and avoid injuries the rest of the way.

I have also really been impressed with waiver-claim SP Charlie O'Rogan. I was always familiar with him as part of the Wilmington farm system, and when California tried to sneak him through waivers I jumped to snatch him up. For the Wildfire, he had a 8.10 ERA in 10 games, and was sent through waivers. Since being with Washington, he has gone 4-1, with a 3.18 ERA, in 8 games, 6 starts. He has bumped former 1st round pick Tessai MacArthur to the pen. Oh, and O'Rogan is just 25.

In minor league news, I missed the Single-A playoffs by five games, made the playoffs for AA, and after a sweep of the Memphis Railcats, the Richmond Rams are currently in first for AAA with a three game lead. And no, I don't have anyone over 25 at AA. And I only have four 30+ year olds at AAA. Bring on the jokes.

Oh, and I cut my DFA down to three guys. Sorry about that. Just need to get a recent scout of a few guys that I signed, then it will be clear.

Question for Andrew and the gang- Are we doing anything to line up with the change of month from August to September? This next sim runs to the 28th of August, and the following sim would run until September 4th. Now, it isn't really a big deal, but I know a lot of teams are looking to have September call-ups with the extended rosters. Just a thought.

Yeah, it would also add some space on your active roster for your DFA roster.

Nah. If it was only off by 1 day, I'd probably do it but I don't want to stop a sim in the middle of the week.

FU... You're getting the pitcher I got last year, and expected this year. He was going to be my ace... but I guess he wanted out and did the best he could to make it happen.

Worst part is, I knew if I couldn't slip him through he'd turn it around...

You should've stuck him in the long relief slot. No way should he have hit waivers. I'm hoping you screwed up with Cade Roberts, too. He's only 22. :)
