  • Call Your Shots -- 1984

Still super early... still 60 games to go in '83....

But... with Andrew out for his civil ceremony... what else do you have to do....

    Bold predictions for 1984

-- The BLB will see its first 50 HR season

-- The Indianappolis Clowns will finish above .500 and still be in contention for the DL Wildcard in September

Your optimism is greatly appreciated Clay. And yes, I think we're on the verge of seeing our first 50 HR player, though I think it will be a duel, much like the Sosa/McGwire battle in '98.

My theory is that with the thinning of the talent due to further expansion... and the return to interleague play, someone (my money is on Keppel) will hit 50-55 bombs next year.

            I got another one....

1984 DL Refreshing New Brew will be Antenor Corona (OF) from Dallas. I can't believe this kid is not up playing for the Snappers already. I think he's a real deal future All-Star. We'd love to have him in Virginia.

For the first time in the history of the BLB eight teams will make the playoffs instead of just four.

I know we are taking shots...predictions...whatever...but I have my doubts.

I hope so...but if I bring him up now he'll have too many ABs to qualify for New Brew in '84. I'm planning on bringing him up in September.

I don't think he'll suddenly jump 13 HR's from his previous best. He might do it, but not next year. Maybe at around 30ish years old.

                              Read it and weep:

The Baltimore Bulldogs will be playoff contenders next year. Virginia will be Virginia.
