  • Scouting the Draft Pool

The Draft Pool for the 1979 First Year Player Draft has been published. It will take place sometime in June, although the exact date depends on how our sim schedule plays out.

To scout the draft pool, go to BLB -> Transactions -> Draft Pool tab and it gives the scouting option at the bottom. It takes 22 days to scout the draft pool.

Under league events it says the draft takes place April 1st? Is this right?

No. I changed the draft date to April 1 to force the game into creating the draft pool early. I'm going to keep pushing it back until we hit the actual date.

However, there could be an issue where it creates two different draft pools. In which case, I'd just make the 2nd pool so bad that none of the players would get drafted.

Apparently, you've not heard of my "Dartboard" draft strategy

Anybody get scouting reports back yet? I've had 2 of my scouts do it so far and they have VERY different opinions. I won't say who but 1 scout has a guy rated as a 76 potential while the other has him at a 58. This should be interesting.

I've been getting the same thing. A guy will be the top prospect according to one scout but not in the top twenty according to another.

I may have to adopt the dart board strategy as well.

I wish you could sort them by the average of your scouts.

That would be very helpful. My guys are all over the place. Some guys appear to be consensus top drawer prospects or consensus duds, but my scouts' opinions of most of the players in the pool vary wildly.

This should really make things interesting....

At first I was thinking this was a bad thing, but I imagine this is much like a normal MLB team. Baseball players are by far the hardest to project.

I scouted the draft pool with 3 scouts, and all 3 think this one pitcher is the next Nolan Ryan.

I think I know who you mean, and both my scouts agree. :)
