Washington's #1 prospect, #13 overall, Michio Nago will make his debut this week, likely starting against the Virginia Colonials on September 7th. His bat has cooled in AAA, and I think it might because he is bored of the competition. He has asked to be in the majors since April, and he is finally going to get his wish. I'm not expecting huge numbers, but he could be an improvement over what I have currently been throwing out there in the OF behind Steve Bing and Dan Hogan. Also, I want to get a good look at him to see if he will be able to play everyday at CF or RF in 1984.
In his first week he hit .353, with a .979 OPS.

Ghaniy had an interesting sim. He has been really good since resigning here. He went 1-1 in 13.1 innings of work without giving up an earned run. Sucks to get an L without giving up an earned run... but hey... welcome to Virginia.

I forgot to mention that I also called up my AAA All-Star Reliever John Jennings. After posting a 3.19 ERA in 113 IP in relief and 92 K's he went 3.2 IP in his Major League Debut week giving up donuts and striking out 3 hitters.

20 Year Old Joe "Coffin" Berges has been called up but did not make an appearance. Same for OF Orlin Montero.

          SP - Jack Curry

Jack Curry will make a few starts before the end of the season, making his way up from AAA ball. Curry is the 3rd overall pick from the 1980 draft, who came to the Whalers in the big deal with the Dinos. He went 15-8 with a 4.03 ERA and 171 K's. I think it might be a little early for him to be up, however Bill Waller is garbage, so a few starts to see how he does can't hurt.

First start will be the 2nd game of the SIM at Sin City.

nice, can't wait to see what Curry can do in the majors. hopefully, the answer is "lose to the Dinos on a regular basis".

Making their debuts this sim for Windy City:

              Glen Barrows
Barrows pitched one inning for Philadelphia and have up one hit and two runs before coming over to us. We promptly moved him down to AAA, he was not happy with that move. So he will finish the season in the big leagues.

              Herman Fisher
Fisher, was the 20th pick of the first round in 1981. He's been solid at every level, having a nice year in AAA going 12 - 6 with a 2.72 ERA. Fisher is a pure control pitcher. We don't think he's quite ready, but he's hit a growth speed bump. Wanna see how he does here.

              Cliff Burgett
Burgett, the 19th pick of the 2nd round in 1980 is the top ranked prospect in our organization rated 23rd overall. He is a Catcher by nature, but we are trying to develop him into a 3rd baseman. He's had a solid year at AAA batting .305 with 12 HR's. He's also seemed to hit a wall and needs some challenges.

Also we're brining up a few more guys that have had a little exposure already. But these guys will be the faces of the new Playboys. These men will be responsible for restoring pride back in the franchise.

                Glen Barrows
Barrows, not so good! 0-2 8.68 ERA, 1.97 WHIP. He can finish the season up here and work on his humility!

                Herman Fisher
                VERY pleased with Fisher's debut.

6.0 IP 4H 1ER 3W 7K, and he got the win. Maybe just beginners luck, we'll see.

                Cliff Burgett

Burgett's first game, he went yard. But that was about the highlight of his first week.

He batted .211, collecting 4 hits. However 2 were doubles and the one HR. He also struck out in half of his PA.

                All in all not terrible.

                  2B - Constantino Valentin

Another one of the guys from the trade with the Dinos...which will hopefully work out better than Jack Curry so far. Valentin played well in New Haven, batting .301 with 8 HR, 54 RBI, and an OBP of .420. We're hoping he'll be the man to replace Hildebrand in a few years....big shoes to fill for sure.

OF Joe O'Rafferty got his first taste of playing everyday this week and responded well filling in for the injured Lee Myers. He's hitting .333 since being called up in his first 18 BLB AB's.

Previously mentioned 1B prospect Maureo Gonez has hit pretty well in his unofficial audition for the '84 Slammers roster. He's hit .288 with a HR and 7 RBIs in 66 big league at bats. I was worried he would be too doe-eyed for the BLB, but we're really happy with how he's stepped up.

P Nacho Zagastizado was merely an afterthought when we expanded to 40 men, but I gave him a spot start and he also snuck in a appearance out of the bullpen, impressing our staff each time. He's picked up his first BLB win over Mississippi on 9/12, going 6.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. I really like Nacho and I hope his growth continues, but realistically he is still a year or two away.

                      Herman Fisher

Another good week for Fisher. Maybe he could step in next year, especially if we lose Mc Evoy.

                      So far two weeks in.

Fletcher also had his first win against his former team, and had two solid outings. Looking forward to see how these guys do the last week, and in Spring.

                        An update on Teodor Leal:

Through his first 49 games, Leal is hitting .299 with a .369 OBP and a .455 SLG. Along with that he has 3 HR, 21 RBI, and 13 doubles. He's playing a shitty second base, but that's what I expected.
