Even though you're in my division, I'd hate to see a future stud pitcher go down so early too.

Mc Evoy was 24 when our league started. He's missed a total of 4 games due to injury. I put him on a 120 pitch count the first week of our first season and haven't changed it. He's done about 250 innings per year. I've been very lucky with him.

            OF Phil Sephton

OF Phil Sephton made his BLB Debut this past sim. Phil will be sharing time with Joe Sargentini at DH for now, and next year he may move into a full time job at RF. The 21 year old was selected in the 2nd round of the 1979 draft. He spent 3 years in A ball before making the jump to AAA, where he averaged .314/.403.

Bobby Broome will be getting called up this week to take Jose Sanchez's place on the roster. He's hitting .327 with 10 HR and 67 RBIs this year in AAA. He was acquired in a trade with Philadelphia in exchange for Dave Beacham.

He's one of those players whose performance has been a lot better than my scouts thought he would be. He'll get a chance to start at 3B with Felipe Miladelroca sliding over to SS.

Wilmington's top prospect, Dani Alvarez, will be making his BLB debut on Tuesday night. In 67 games since coming over from Davenport in the blockbuster deal that sent Dealba and Robbins to the Brawlers, Alvarez has hit 16 homeruns for AAA Memphis while driving in 44 runs.

With this move, former 1B Antonio Romo will be moving to RF. Both Romo and Alvarez are Wilmington's top two hitting prospects, and we're hoping that we can find Romo a new home in the OF.

Two more prospects have made their way up for Hartford, as the youth movement is in full swing:

Tom Schmitz: Starts off his BLB career with 7 hits for a .280 avg, with a HR and 4 RBI. Been trying to groom him for SS, but still only talented at 1B. However, only 1 E in 35 chances.

Hidalgo Vidriales: Wasn't in the plans for next season, but a +.300 minor league player, he deserved a shot. Slower start with only 3 hits in 21 chances. 8 K's to one BB, he has a lot left to prove.

                    Michio Nago - OF

Washington's #1 prospect, #13 overall, Michio Nago will make his debut this week, likely starting against the Virginia Colonials on September 7th. His bat has cooled in AAA, and I think it might because he is bored of the competition. He has asked to be in the majors since April, and he is finally going to get his wish. I'm not expecting huge numbers, but he could be an improvement over what I have currently been throwing out there in the OF behind Steve Bing and Dan Hogan. Also, I want to get a good look at him to see if he will be able to play everyday at CF or RF in 1984.

Called up 19 Year Old AAA Batting Champion Orlin Montero.

Montero batted .370 over 513 At-bats in 120 Games. He stole a AAA leading 55 bases in 67 attempts, finished third in Total Bases with 236, and had a .866 OPS.

He will take Karcher's spot as the fourth outfielder on the team and will likely fall flat on his face. :)

Had to think about this one for awhile, but Syracuse will be bringing up our BA #2 prospect 1B Maureo Gonez. The 22 year old Cuban tore up Single A before jumping AA and hitting .283 with .811 OPS in 279 AAA at bats. We're curious to see how he responds to BLB pitching, and if he does well, he'll have a good shot at the big league roster in '84. We hope he'll grow to possess the power our lineup is desperately missing.

The Colonials, despite being the "rebuidlingist" team in the league, are not breaking many cherries this September.

ImageThe only notable player confirmed for the first week of callups with be 24-year old Catcher Alberto Hernando. Hernando, who was the Colonials' 3rd Round pick in 1981, has made a steady move through the minors and really came on in AAA this season hitting .282 with 46 XBH and behind the dish where he threw out 50% of the attempted base stealers that he faced.

The only other Colonial who will his first BLB action is Starting Pitcher Godofredo Martinez.

Finally brought up Corona. He had an ok first week. I also brought up Miller, who I'm expecting to by our starting catcher next year. We should have a pretty young team next year with Miller, Corona and possibly 1-2 other prospects making the team next year.

Yeah, I wish I had more to add to this thread.

Unfortunately, virtually all of my draft picks are busts. I might call up some dudes who have announced their retirements just for kicks.
