It is hard to understand how he could end up with such a bad team and bad minor league system in such a short time. I remember back in the days when I was trying to keep up with Windy City and Carolina scrutinizing the CA roster for someone that might help me and I couldn't find a single player I actually wanted.
    It was everything.

If you look back at California's inaugural roster, half of them are retired. I think they were drafted to win right away, but some bad trades and managing, had them only at about .500 in 1978. Didn't let prospects develop. Made bad trades (see Frank Dallyn). And I'm not sure how active the original owner was.

Washington actually had a similar inaugural draft, but I'm just good at what I do.

elprez, you have a few pitchers due to hit FA that you may want to make decisions on, especially with the trade deadline approaching.

Na, my problem was I didn't want to bring him back and instead targeted the second tier of receivers. I lost out in the bidding war on all of them, and that problem was compounded by the fact that my #2 receiver retired after I let Hutton walk.

As for California, Acid made some dumb trades and when they didn't work out, he got desperate and rushed his prospects.

Are the sims weekly, and it looks like you sim multiple games. How many sims per season? Do we play the full 160 games, are we at the All-Star break?

We sim a week at a time, up to each Monday in-game.. Sims are typically conducted Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights around 9 PM ET. We play the full season and are currently a week past the All-Star break.

Looks like Tandy peaked in 78-79. And what's the deal about trading deadline/waivers?

Same as MLB. Trading deadline is July 31st but you can still make waiver trades after that. Let me know if you need anything more specific.

We won 93 games in '81 and didn't make the playoffs because we were 14 games back, in 3rd place? Wow, somebody must've had a hell of a year. Hell, we're not competitive because we aren't spending any money. I got 32 mil to spend, and those of you in the OSFL know I don't mind spending.....

Please correct me if I'm wrong since my sports of choice are really basketball and soccer,

waiver trades: I can release someone and if another team attempts to sign the cat, I can put him back on the team so that I can get something out of it instead of just losing out on the player?

Ignoring your team for a few weeks and then telling me you're leaving is just as bad as leaving without saying anything from my POV. It still leaves the incoming owner in the same tight spot. That's all I have to say about this here. Feel free to take it up with me over PM.

                              This is from the rules:

                              Waiver Trades
                                • Players may be traded after the July 31st deadline if they first clear Waivers.
                                • Waive the player normally in the game.
                                • For each player, create a new thread in the Waivers forum stating the player has been waived.
                                • Teams may claim players on revocable waivers in his waiver forum thread ONLY. If no thread exists you may claim the player normally in game.
                                • Teams may claim players on Irrevocable waivers normally in game.
                                • Once the player clears in game, the waiving team can negotiate a trade with the team that claimed the player and had the highest priority (Worst record) at that time.
                                • Or if no claims are made, they are free to trade him to anyone.
                                • If no trade is completed before the next sim the waiving team can either revoke the waivers or allow the claim to go through and lose him for nothing.
The game is pretty terrible about how it handles waiver trades so we have to use these custom rules. The issue is that if you waive a player in game and use the automatically revoke option. If he gets claimed, you won't be able to make a trade, even with the team that claimed him. This is why it needs to be done in the forums instead.

Yeah, because there's so much to be doing with a team that's 20 games out and has been out of contention since May. I realize I don't spend every waking moment on my team like some others in the league (Diesel) but give me a break. I exported after the draft and arranged my minor leagues, including my AA team where half the team is out with long-term injuries (yay realism!). And I also resigned in time to let someone else get players re-signed for next season. Yet I'm no better than TJ, Hungry, etc. Please.

Speaking of which, elprez, my only advice would be to not sign anyone to a long-term deal.
