AAA 3B prospect Harry Kerns...career over. Fractured elbow. Yay, gotta love this game.

John Gorrie's a beast. He's only batting .450 since coming off the DL 2 weeks ago. Berose is tearing the cover off the ball in place of Delarruz. Romo's still hovering around .300. The future looks good in Wilmington.

12 game win streak got snapped but I gained a game.

I wish there was a Wild Card so I wouldn't have to worry :(

I purposely set my rotation as start highest rested starter because of the AS break. Tardif was bumped to the #1 slot and started the last game before the break so that he would get another start soon after the second half picked up. Well he didn't get a second start. It really sucks that I lost 2 of 3 to Washington and didn't get him out there starting a game.

          I'm free, free-fallin

Yikes, its getting ugly. Don Stevens struck out 9 in his second AAA start and is now 2-0 with 19 strikeouts in 16 innings. I need all the good news I can get.

Pawtucket has a 12 game losing streak right now, they're all that's going to separate me from the #1 pick but I expect to pass them. Injuries annihilated my offense this year.

Could we see Stevens as a late-season call up?

I'm thinking about it. He has a strong chance next season to be a part of the rotation. I've been aggressive pushing him but I can't afford for him to burn out. The consensus of my scouts is that he's close to being ready. I just want him to refine his control a little more.

His birthday is August 20th, so if things go well over the next month, I might call him up while he's still 17 :)

Thank goodness I drafted him before the patch fixed the age thing :)

Typical Virginia sim... blew some leads.... won a game... got blown out a little... that's us.

Dale O'Hegarty grabs the June IL Newcomer of the Month. I love this kid. He just turned 23 and should be here in Virginia (knock on wood) for many years or at least until get can become a FA and refuses to negoatiate with me.

Wilton Harcourt is really starting to show the power that we brought him here for. His BA is still way down from where he should be, but 5 bombs in the last 10 games and all of a sudden he's back in the picture for the HR title at 16.

Nate "The Skull" Magness lost his first game in AA. I think AA is where he will stay the rest of the season. He's still only walked 1 batter in 4 games. I pray for this kid every sim.

                  ***

Speaking of O'Hegarty, my trade with Los Lunas this off-season (Sargentini for O'Hegarty and Poling) may be the most mutually successful trade I've ever been a part of. I know Sargentini is having a really nice season for LL - while O'Hegarty has been rock solid in the BLB and Poling (who's still only 20), played well in AA and has been even better since moving to AAA. I like those kinds of deals.

I'm very happy with where my team is going. With all the trades we've made, our minor league system has been completely revamped. We still have some extra picks next year as well.

As far as our big league club, there's some young talent that's blossoming. Hell we even had a winning June. I think we'll be a dam good team in a few years. We have a ton in the pipeline and some good young players in the big leagues. We have plenty of trade bait if needed and our bottom line the probably the best it's been since I took over the team.

That sucks... I remember I hated trading Kerns to you last year... The kid was only 22... How in the world could he not come back from this injury?

I think short of death or totally blown arm that the players shouldn't be getting career ending injuries.

You're preaching to the choir. I've lost a stud reliever, and two promising prospects, to career ending injuries since the league's inception. I have to keep reminding myself it's just a game, but the injuries in this game are ridiculous.

That's probably why he got hurt to begin with.
