One thing to keep in mind is the budgets change from year to year (what factors into it is still a mystery to me). If a team spends right to the brink and their budget drops the next year, they could be in trouble financially. I recommend leaving a buffer between your payroll and budget since the budget is just a projection of money you should make, not what you will make.

Things seem to be looking up in Philly. They did a good job of clearing their budget and getting rid of some high priced players. Now have added two good young hitters and still have a ton of money to spend. On paper, Harcourt's stats don't look that impressive, but when you consider he was playing in Virginia, with the largest playing field in the league, it looks alot better. He hit 19 of his 26 HR's on the road and had an OPS that was 200 points higher. He should be able to take advantage of the short RF porch at Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower field and put up some solid numbers.

He's still not worth 22mil/year. And neither is Desi Rochs at 12.5mil/year (I should know, I let him go b/c he was asking for 6mil/year). Jeez, some of these contracts are outrageous.

I'll be honest, I didn't have either of those guys valued at what I gave them either. However, I made a bunch of offers prior to the first sim and got zero of them. Because we have no opportunity to make counter-offers, I knew I had to overpay to make sure I got them.

I think my plan for next year's free agency will be to sim 2 days at time, every day of the week (depending on my schedule). Even if I can only manage doing it 5 days a week, that still gets us through 10 days, a period during which most of the major FA's signed.
