It seems like a good strategy would be to always have somebody scouting the entire BLB, that way you're up to date a couple times a year.

      yes, i agree.

also, scouting your organization a few times a year seems to be a must.

Sorry to do this to you, but I've been mulling it over for awhile, and I'll reconsider. I just need to look at my team and see if I can make it not suck within a season or two. Too bad my game went screwy on me, I had over 50 million to spend but my game wouldn't update even after downloading the file 4 or 5 times.

The scouting thing doesn't bother me. Just throw your scouts to scout the entire BLB during the offseason. Once that's done, it'll be a month or 2 into the season. By the time they're done scouting, the rookie pool will be published. Put the scouts to the rookie pool. Once that's done, re-scout the entire BLB to get up to date scouting on the upcoming free agents. The season will be over and the scouts will be done. Repeat.

Like I said, the scouting doesn't bother me all that much. Although I do fail to see the point of it. It'll give a little more in depth into each player and you can have different scout's opinion on each player.. but what I think the scouting will add is the ability to find hidden players, which we are not able to do anyway.

One thing I plan on doing is forcing the game to publish the rookie draft pool earlier, probably on opening day. It takes about 20 days to scout it, so if it was up a month before (the default) anybody who missed that sim would be screwed.

I'm hoping it will let us turn this on during the pre-season.

I think what scouting adds is player evaluation in general. Rather than everyone seeing the same ratings and having the same opinion, we'll be going off our individual scouts.

I think this comes into play most during the draft and during trades.

So you're staying now, or only if your team starts winning? Don't get me wrong, I'd greatly prefer you to stay but don't want to go through this again down the road.

I agree. I find it odd that you were first complaining that it was the scouts, but now it's whether or not you can make your team competitive. Those two things are not linked whatsoever. If your approach is that if you're not winning you're not going to be involved then I would suggest you bow out. The game is supposed to be challanging and there are going to be highs and lows for every organization. Last thing we need are people who will leave the league just because they don't believe they can win.

                Just my two cents.

                  Good idea.

Hmm, unless it was changed during one of the patches, I don't think you can turn it on. I hope you can b/c finding these hidden gems is a great feature. Plus, being all patriotic, I'd love to find some BLB-worthy Korean players :)

I agree too. I'm (hopefully) in this for the long haul. I've never been a part of an online league from the ground up, so I hope this lasts more than a few seasons. I expect that there will be stretches of me having a horrible team and stretches where I hope to win a few championships.

As for your game install, have to ever considered doing a fresh install of your OS and basically starting from scratch? I don't know how your computer is set up so it might be much more difficult than it needs to be. But the way I have mine set up, it's really easy to format the C drive and start over. All my backup data is stored on a separate physical drive, so all I do is reformat my C drive and just reinstall a few programs and I'm back up and running in a few hours.

I don't know what the problem was, but I know that I downloaded the file at least 3 times and put it in my BLB folder like I do every time and it was stuck on 10-19-78 for awhile.

You know you can download it in the game by going to Game -> Load Online League File, right?

That was a sarcastic post. I didn't know you could access the file that way.

I understand that you didn't know that. What I don't understand, however, is when most people have a problem with exporting/importing or anything, they post in here and say they have a problem, and it is then resolved. So far since you announced your retirement, I've heard that it's because you:

                                1. Don't like scouting
                                2. It's something that you've been thinking about for a while now
                                3. Are unsure if you can have a competitive team in a few years, thereby meaning you should ditch your team
                                4. Your league file hasn't been working for a few sims, but you never mentioned it until now.

So, my post was a mere reference to the fact that every post the reasons change, and in my feeling the chances of you leaving in the middle of the season if your team is losing is in the high range. This thing isn't my life, but I'd like to play with people that want to play and have the want to stay as long as the league is successful.

I guess that makes that my four cents worth
