Don't jinx it Clay. I worry every sim about the dreaded "torn back" career ender.

That'd be a damn shame, but it would likely cemenet his legend even more. He'd be the James Dean... the Kurt Cobain... the Len Bias of the BLB

I'd rather see .315/30/115 for the next 8 years.

Sure, you could go that route instead... whatever.

I saw the title of the thread preview on the SGN main page, and it said "Will there ever be a better..." and I thought it was going to finish with "team than the 1983 Washington Bats"

My answer, of course, would be "no."

But ya, Harry Keppel is the shit. He will likely go down as the best BLB player to ever have lived. And to think, he got drafted in the third round, while the Washington Yankees were busy selecting dinosaurs like Bill Gentry in the 1st round.

As for players that will be/are as good as him... there are plenty

              Gremades
Jose Guzman is getting real good

ok... not "plenty"... but there are a few.

Yes, I think there will be. I believe that OOTP creates far more stars (and really bad players) and fewer average ones than IRL. For instance Piazza is generally considered the best hitting catcher ever and his career OPS is .922. In the few years of our league we already have Stiver with a career OPS of .937 even though he was already past his prime when our league started.

God... i'm glad I have him until 1990 for a cool $9.5 mil / year. Granted, I'll be surprised if he signs for longer after I hosed him for 10 years.

It seems like players are a lot less likely to accept those contracts in the newer versions. I've been trying to hose Gil O'Moore since last season and he still won't accept anything that long.

yeah... it'll be tough to find someone to take a 10 year contract anymore, unless you overpay.

                        Keppel's career #'s:

                        .336, .970, 231 doubles, 157 HRs, 650 RBI, and only 302 Ks

The thing about Keppel, is that he has a head start on any player we currently have, or I think will ever see. He was arguably the best hitter in the league in his first year, at 20! (He won the DL slugger award)

Campoveroe wasn't great until 24. Nino 25. Guzman 23. Gremades 22. Thats atleast two full seasons of great baseball Keppel has on all those guys.

Guzman could catch him in the long run, but he plays in a pitchers park, so his numbers will never be that great. And Gremades numbers are a little skewed because he plays in the BLB's Coors Field.

It's a shame Pete Kellum wasn't 20-something years old when we created this league.

I agree, though, Keppel is the best player in the league, by far.

Yeah, it would of been cool to see what some of the greats would of been able to do had they been younger at the leagues creation. Pete Kellum, Mutsohito Kuramhochi, Henry Stafford...
