I finally gave in and took a look at this Stafford guy and... WTF? 6yr/96mil? Did he take a huge unexpected ratings hit?
Wow.
That's all I have to say about that.

Yes. His performance was never that great but he had good ratings. Then when we switched to OOTP 2007 his ratings went way down. This is one of the causes of Skerik's general bitterness towards OOTP 2007.
When we converted to OOTP 2007, some players in the league took major ratings hits. He was one of them. Unfortunately, it came after he signed that huge deal with Baltimore.

Guzman could catch him in the long run, but he plays in a pitchers park, so his numbers will never be that great. And Gremades numbers are a little skewed because he plays in the BLB's Coors Field.
I'm not sold that Guzman will ever be on Keppel's level. Guzman, while nothing major, has been banged up a couple times in his career already including the infamous strained back. Will that ever become anything bigger... who knows? But one of the most impressive things about Keppel is that he has literally had two injuries in his entire career and they were like 500 games apart.
Keppel is definately Babe Ruth. Someone MAY challenge some of his numbers in the future, especially if the BLB experiences a 90's style "juiced ball" era when we hit that decade, I'm just not convinced we'll ever have a more complete player.
BTW, I was looking through the history this morning, and I'm fairly convinced that Joe Chavarraga is the Roger Clemens of the BLB, steroids included. The guy seems to get better as he gets older.
California Kodiaks - GM - 1982-2013 Brewmaster's Cups: 1987 Import League Champions: 1987, 1989
Porter Division Champions: 1986, 1987, 1989, 1999, 2000 Import League Wild Card: 2001, 2003, 2004
What is the difference between the Outstanding Hitter Award and the Stout Slugger Award? Keppel has won both in the same year a couple of times.

I can't complain.
