It's weird looking at the html reports and not seeing any ratings now.

I think your teams head scout will do a quick scout of your entire organization on Jan 1. This will give you some idea of your players ratings, but may not be very accurate.

You're better off scouting your own organization right away. Only takes the scout 12 days.

I'm starting to notice some differences between my scouts. I have this one guy, my 4th scout down who LOVES everybody. If my guys were actually as good as he rates them, I'd be fielding an all-star team.

Here's one thing I think I screwed up on...

I havn't scouted my own organization since we turned on scouts until now. I'm finding that a lot of my older pitchers have seriously declined since the last time I scouted them, hence the 10+ ERA's. I'm not sure when their ratings take the hit, but assume it's when we switched over to 1979.

Then I have 1 guy who's great with pitching and one with hitting, so I look to them for reports on pitching/hitting. Sometimes they all have about the same report, other times it's way different. Good example, I have 1 guy that 3 of my scouts have given a 35, 38 & 70 for OVR. It would seem I should listen to the lower ones since 2 guys came up with that but I would of course prefer the 70.

So, how do you decide to listen to when reports vary?

My head scout and second scout are rated 7's across the board. They usually come close to agreeing so I value their opinions over the rest of my staff. If a bunch of your scouts agree on a guy with 1 outlier, obviously I'd go with the consensus. However, in a lot of cases I'll defer to my head scout.

Yeah I have been wondering about that myself. I've got a guy in AAA whom 3 of my scouts hate and the fourth thinks he will be great. Meanwhile, he's 3-0 with an ERA under 1.00 and I don't have the slightest idea whether he is any good or not. I'm just glad I have enough pitching depth in the BLB that I don't have to make a decision on him until I have more info.

But I absolutely love playing with scouts on as it introduces a level of uncertainty and realism that was absent in every other baseball game I played.
