  • Easiest way to get draft data onto spreadsheet?

I'm pretty spread sheet illiterate, so I was wondering, what's the quickest and easiest way to get all the data from my scouts onto a spread sheet, so that its actually in order?

Is there a file in one of the directories that I can open that has all the info or is there something else I'm not doing?

there's no way outside of typing it all in. this is actually a feature I want in the next full version of OOTP.

It's pretty easy. Just open it in an external browser and copy and paste into Excel. I always do in page by page, but it works.

Thanks, that's what I was already doing... I was just hoping their would be an even simpler system than that.

Actually there is a fairly easy way if you have MS Excel. Easier than typing them at least.

              1) Load the game. Go to Game -> OOTP Preferences and make sure Lists is set to "scroll bars" This is so you don't need to copy and paste every page.
              2) Go to the draft pool and set the view to what you want in the spreadsheet. (select the scout, batters, pitchers, etc)
              3) In the lower right click Report -> Write report to disk. This should open a web page containing the view you see in game. Hit Ctrl-A to select everything on the webpage and Ctrl-C to copy.
              4) Open Microsoft Excel and choose Paste -> Paste Special -> Text

This should put all the data from the website into a spreadsheet with a column for each column you see on the website. I usually make 1 sheet for batters and 1 for pitchers for each of my scouts.

I forgot about changing the scroll bars. That's what I did last year. Guess I hadn't made the switch on OOTP 8 yet.

Ah yes, the scroll bar will help a lot. It was a pain copying and pasting one page at a time.

I've been doing this for all our drafts, exactly the way Andrew wrote. Really works great having all the info in Excel format.

Yeah, I've been using Andrew's method.

interesting. I just click around in the game a bit, see a guy I want, and hope he isnt taken.
