Looks like we don't have Interleague play again for 1983. Apparently it's impossible when you have a different number of teams in each league.

The good news is that I found a very good fictional schedule for next year. There are 3 different versions of this setup so the dates when you play certain teams will rotate every 3 years. Here are the details:

    24 team schedule, 162 games
    Designed for the following configuration:
2 leagues, each with 3 divisions, each with 4 teams

54 games in the division (27H/27A)
18 games against other 3 teams of division (9H/9A)

96 games outside division, in league (48H/48A)
12 games against other 8 teams of league (6H/6A)

    12 interleague games (6H/6A)
3 games against 4 teams in one division of other league

Each set of 9 home or away intradvision games
    are divided into a 2-game, a 3-game, and a 4-game series.
The 6 2-game series are combined into 3 4-game blocks.

Interdivision & interleague games are all in 3-game series

20 of the last 32 games for all teams are intradivisional.

Offdays only on Mondays and Thursdays, except at All-Star Break.

No more than 20 consecutive days without offday

No homestands or roadtrips longer than 14 games

Two leagues very nearly copies of each other except
    for interleague play.

    That's a great setup.

Gives intradivision matchups more weight without taking away the importance of beating teams out of your division. 18 vs. 12 games I think is a great mix.

Did we not have the other rules in place this past season? (ie: no more than 20 consecutive days without an off day, no roadtrips/homestands longer than 14 games?)

We just used the game generated schedule up to this point.

I like the idea of 20 of the last 32 games are intradivisional. Could make for some fun races down the stretch.
