  • BTW - Congrats to all on what was a pretty productive first day (24 hours). I thought getting through the majority of the 1st Round was pretty good considering it was a Tuesday/Wednesday.

    • Diesel and I talked about this...and I think all of you are pretty much right. We talked about anyone that we were "missing" from our boards...and I didn't think so. But that's because there aren't that many guys that I go "wow I NEED to have him!"...but at the same time, there are enough guys that can be solid players in the BLB to last us 2-3 rounds without reaching too far, which wasn't the case in past years. I kind of like how this changed, as not every year in the real draft will you have 10 killer guys and then questions...some years you just have solid players but no gods.

But then again I didn't have to wait for 20 whatever people to pick before I got my guy :)

      • Yeah, I think some people... (cough...Diesel....cough)... lose sight of the fact that most teams start quite a few guys with ratings in the 5's and 4's. Sure, the 7's and 8's are more attractive, but that's not the norm. This draft is pretty deep with 5's. That's a starter on a lot of teams.

        • What's the hold up Andrew... we all know you're going to edit your pick's potential ratings anyway....

          ;)

            • OK my pick is in. Went with Clarence Evans. We had him rated as a solid hitter across the board except he doesn't have much power. The thing that put me over the edge though was his baserunning (Rated 6/8/8) and fielding (rated 6 at 2B and 8 at 1B, SS and 3B).

We needed infield prospects so hopefully he turns out to be a good one.

              • LOVED Evans! He was my dream get at #25. I never uttered his name outloud as to not risk it. Hits, unreal speed, and plays GREAT defense everywhere.

                Good get.

                  Good get.
Glad somebody else likes him because I was definitely torn. The way I look at it, even if his hitting doesn't develop he's still a very useful BLB player because of his baserunning and fielding skills.

                  • Our Scouts overall had him at 5 2 5, as did my 80 rated Hitting Scout.

He's a very versatile player though, and for an middle infielder, his hitting is good enough.

                    • I like Evans in that spot. My two 80-rated hitting scouts had him at 5-7-2-4-5 and 5-7-2-5-6.

                      • Diesel said we could skip his pick, there isn't anybody on the board that's worthy of the uniform.

                        • My 80 scout said 3/2/3, but overall was 5/2/4 on Evans.

                            Jerry Stuart?

No, I'm not losing sight of anything. This is just simply a weak draft class. Trust me. I have been here for every draft there have been with scouts, and I think top to bottom, this is the weakest.

Haha. Actually, two of my guys made it, but I went with the pitcher. What does everyone think about Jerry Stuart? He has a "5" on endurance from all my scouts, so I'm pretty sure he will have an easy transition to SP. All my scouts have him 5-5-6 potential, and they all him currently rated pretty high. He is 22, turns 23 on 4-20...I think he will be on the fast rise to the bigs.

Solid Pick, also had him at 5 5 6 overall.
