I like that pick. Looks like he's further along in his development, too.

Excellent pick Clay. He would've been my #1 too.

That was the reason I picked him. I liked that he was older. He'll start in AA and could be in the bigs by next season. He could be my Jeff Franklin.

That's exactly what I thought he could be. He had Jeff Franklin written all over him. There's one other pitcher in the draft that I think can follow a similar path. Hope he falls to 5.

I think he's older than Franklin right now! Still, he could be on the fast track.

I am amazed that you thought Magness would fall to number 5. You must have thought the guys picking in front of you are idiots. Then again, maybe we are and that is the reason we have such high picks.

No I was just hoping people would be more interested in OF prospects than pitchers. Not idiots.

With the 2nd pick, Dallas selects Denver Brode from Rosedale, Ca.

(Andrew, can I change his first name? Should we start a name change thread for this year's draft? Or should I just put it in the commissioners to-do post?)

Same here, Magness and Brode were the two best SPs on my board. Not surprised at all to see them go 1,2.
