          • All set. Took 3B Rod Myers. Scouts have him all pretty solid across the board, with extra pop and gap power. Light in that position so hopefully he works out.

            • Los Alamos selects 2B Juan Carlos Guzman. Hopefully he will work out as a leadoff man in the future. I am not jazzed about his defense, but you can have everything.

              • Baltimore takes 23-year-old C Derrek Reed at #53 overall.

Our scouts may be dead wrong, but we had Reed pegged as the best catching prospect in this draft. He is on the old side, but he enters our system as our best young catching prospect and our hope is that he progresses through the ranks quickly.

                • Very weak class for Catchers, but I had Reed well above any other catcher.

I had Reed as the #1 catcher in the draft as well. My 80 scout was really high on him, and i'm honestly suprised he lasted this long. Great pick.

                    • I was praying that Reed would be there. I couldn't believe he made it as long as he did.

Instead its rubiso Taváres, SP, ugh. Not sure about that pick.

                        • Playboys select MR Conan Bowden. Overall our scouts got him as a 6-5-5, my 80 rated pitching scout likes him even more at 7-6-5.

Great defensive ratings and intelligence to boot. We're thrilled to get him here.

                          • My scouts have Bowden no higher than 5-5-4, but my two highest pitching scouts are only rated 75.

I was either going to go with Reed or Garane with my pick but I went with Garane because he's 5 years younger, all my scouts have him at 6 or higher in the defensive ratings and he's got 6's for intelligence and work ethic.

But looking at the two as of right now, Reed is the better hitter, and with higher current ratings he's well ahead of Garane for who could a fast riser. Thankfully Marv Curtis a kid I got last year is up in AA and seems to be moving quickly. With Reed if I played him in A and then waited a year to move him up to AA he'd already be 24. And the older you get in the minors, the less likely you'll amount to something...right?

                              • Reed was far and away the top Catcher by my scouts. I think it was a good pick.
