  • Patch #3

The 3rd and final patch is supposed to be released at the end of this week. Here is the current fixlist: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...40&postcount=1

Is this worth doing immediately, or should we wait until the offseason? I think most of the online league issues have been weeded out so it shouldn't cause any problems but you never know...

One thing it does fix is the option to load the online league in game. It now forces you to login again after it loads, so Owners won't have commish powers. This should make it much easier for everyone.

I think we should do it when it comes out.

It is supposed to fix a lot of minor things, as well as the aging/development issue for pitchers. Plus, like you said, the league file thing will finally be fixed.

I'm extremely gunshy after what happened last time. We're just getting some momentum again. But if you feel it's safe, then go for it.

          Agreed.

A couple of items being addressed that really stand out to me are:

          - Improved player development & aging algorythms

Need this prior to this season ending to have an affect on players for next season and potential retirees.

          - Added player overall and potential rating to player profile screen

Nothing too major, but I love this addition nonetheless.

          - Players with a major league contract who are on DFA and no longer on the 40-man roster and cleared waivers may now be assigned to the minor leagues

Huge fix in my opinion. I had to eat close to $220k after one of my players cleared waivers and he still refused assignment to the minors. This may come into play again before this season ends with owners placing players on waivers to facilitate trading.

          - Tweaked development of market size, fan loyalty and fan interest

This is something that has been giving Andrew fits. Hopefully this will ease his pain a bit.

          - Tweaked injury system, increasing the amount of day-to-day injuries

I hope by "increasing day-to-day injuries" they mean decreasing the severity and frequency of major injuries. 12 freaking months for a pinched nerve!

The fix for importing leagues is also very nice to have.

How many more sims do we have before the offseason? I'm with Jistic...I don't think it's too much longer until the offseason and the last time we patched it sucked with all the problems so I'd rather wait.

I'm new, so I don't know what happened last time. Did the league file become corrupt or anything? If that's the case, Id gladly help test if we need to.

Basically, we were one of the first online leagues to start so we were the unlucky beta testers. We were going along fine up until the first version of patch 2, which completely fubared online leagues and put us out of commission for a couple weeks.

Oh, ok. Yeah that happened across the board. I was helping to test the patches as they came out in increments, and it did completely break online leagues.
Hopefully this one doesn't do that.

The initial patch completely screwed-up some major issues pertaining to online leagues. We were stagnant for quite some time (3 weeks give or take).

Something tells me they won't be so inept as to make the same mistake twice. I think the first patch was rushed while the time between the second patch and this one is a lot longer allowing the developer(s) to ensure it works without any major hiccups.

I think my tentative plan is to test it thoroughly before installing it, but try to get it in before seasons end due to the reasons HLewison stated above.

I also think it doesn't touch the online league stuff other than a simple fix to force users to login again after loading the file.

I think this is the best plan. As others have stated, I'd be surprised if the OOTP folks blew up online leagues with two different patches, but I've been surprised before. However, I do think the patch contains enough significant changes that we should make every effort to include it prior to the end of the season.

IMHO, the heavy testing and implementation before the end of the season is fine with me.
