Ran it late last night. A couple things:
- The new participation rules are now in effect.
- I don't think some of you are grasping the concept of DFA. If your player's DFA time runs out, they will be released and you will have to pay their remaining salary. If a player is owed $8mil over the next 3 years, you pay all of it as soon as you release him. A lot of you have wasted craploads of money because you let their DFA time run out and I had to release them.
DFA is meant to be a temporary area to put players in order to make room on the 40 man or active rosters for other transactions. If you don't want a guy with a minor league contract, simply release him. If you don't want a guy with a major league contract, try to trade him for nothing. Just please be aware that if you release a player with a major league contract, you're paying ALL of his remaining salary.
Also, it's a huge pain in the ass for me when people do this because I have to go through all the teams and release these players. A rule change I'm considering for next season will fine teams who do this.
